My RD at NSC was 07/02/07 and my EAD status changed to "production ordered" just 5 days back(still dont know when I will get it). I think NSC is taking upto 5 months from RD to process the EADs.

The President is expected to step forward to reassert the leadership of the Federal Government on the issue of immigration.
While a federal lawsuit against Arizona's SB1070 now seems imminent, the President must address the underlying issues that led to passage of the Arizona law. We hope the President will squarely address the public's frustration with a lack of workable solutions on immigration. He must place this frustration in context - lack of federal action leads to growing impetus in the states to pass laws, no matter what their cost, simply to try to resolve the impasse. The President should address this frustration, but should also address the undisputed polling that shows that Americans want comprehensive immigration reform. This can be his moment to bring people together by laying out a framework that will actually move Congress to complete workable legislation.
We also hope that the President avoids some of the typical election chatter on immigration, which tends to turn the issue into a political contest of who can talk the toughest. Rarely does the debate move beyond the issue of further fortifying our southern border. While border security is a necessary component of comprehensive immigration reform, we cannot stop there. Real reform must look past campaign politics and find solutions that will allow communities to live and work together without the anger and recriminations that have dominated this issue for years. We hope the President's speech will go beyond issues of border security and discuss with the same enthusiasm strategies to create a 21st century immigration system - a system which invests in ideas and programs that support family and community cohesion, promotes fairness and individual accountability, supports immigrant integration, and helps us attract the best and brightest from around the world.

We are working really hard to get our amendments in. Please understand, we are not doing this for fun. We are into this just like you for our green cards. It would really help if we get support instead of having to answer the same questions over and over

msgs like this help establish the notion that this is an indian website dedicated to indian immigration issues. I didnt see any post wishing happy Eid/ Eid Mubarak nor did I notice last year that anyone wished a Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays, nor do we wish our Chinese friends a Happy Chinese New Year.
The people who wants to be a part of American Society should first definately be a very open minded towards all cultures and social trends.
Other thing to be Indian or representing Indian traditions is not a crime but certainly every time barking against anything Indian may certainly be a crime as it is a clear indication of closed door or prejudicial mind towards one particular country and culture. Americans do not mind if one shows that he is Indian now and want to become in American future. Although they prefer that AND that is why they label Jindal as Indian-American although he born in USA. If there are majority Indians on IV board, it is not a crime but it is obvious. Some of my chienese friends on IV board may start thread for wishing chienese festival, I bet most Indians on this board will welcome and same goes with Muslim friends on IV board. Starting and wishing EID MUBARAK thread (By the way that is also a Indian tradition..And I am proud of that too) is not a crime and by now if nobody started it does not mean other people may not welcome it. If you are a Muslim, start the thread for EID Mubarak, I will be the first to welcome that step. You want to be American,, right? Then first start learning open mind and start respecting the culture of majority IV memebers first. If you would not start that now how will you settle yourself in cultural pot of the world?
If you are an Indian citizen right now take control over your inferiority complex and get over it because if you do not respect your culture or your tradition what guaranty would be there for Americans that you would respect American traditions in future. Even Americans are not fool. And how dare you pretend that people form China and other countries just stop supporting IV as they just see few threads celebrating Indian culture? So stop this bullshit now otherwise I may have to request moderators to ban you.

IMO, we all are in the same path, some ahead of others, but basically belong to the same larger SET. Some of us have faced the problems that students are facing now, and in all likelihood these students will face the same problems that we are facing now. More personally though, I always think, if only I knew more about the GC process back when I was in school( 12 years ago), I'd have been much better now.
If we start digging a well every time we are thirsty it takes forever to get anything done. To give a 4 letter word why students must participate-(not what you think, dirty minds:)) STEM

With regards to the fact sheet, I wonder if it might be useful to include statistics on how much labor/money the US loses when high skilled workers immigrate to Canada or go back to their home country after being unsuccessful in obtaining their GC? Perhaps such stats are not available, but something along these lines that highlights losses to the US might be useful in bringing attention to what we contribute.

I always loved this board for what it does - especially the Gurus who always spend their precious time giving input to member's queries. Well... this is not query. I just want to vent my frustration, helplessness to fellow friends in this board. In spite of graduating from a reputed univ with a Masters and very good GPA and also having 7 years of professional experience, I am bound to be a slave to my current Employer without any promotions, career growth or anything remote to that for next (God knows how many Decades) several years. ppl who are junior to me in every aspect are growing left and right and are also getting brighter opportunities. I dont care if you guys think I am jealous of them.... But does God really exist ? sorry for wasting your time with this depressing note. I guess there is a limit to how unlucky I can be !! call me a cry baby but I am one real unlucky individual !
I know exactly how you feel because I felt that way every single day for over 8 years (look at my priority date) and even years before I sent in my i485 application. It is just the worst feeling of hopelessness and constant worry because you don't know what's going to happen and when is it going to happen, and you can't even do anything with your life because you don't know the outcome of the whole thing. I know exactly how you feel. I finally got my GC this year but I think what I went through I will never forget. I hate it when people try to make others feel better with story examples of unfortunate people from poor countries or alcoholic parents or whatever stuff of that kind, because no one who is going through something so emotionally charged as feeling like a caged bird with no future is going to take those examples and all of a sudden go AHA and feel happy, however, as someone who was where you are and who waited for over a decade to get to the final point, I can tell you what I now know I should have done while I was waiting. I should have learned a language, I should have read more, I should have acquired more hobbies, I should have learned some extra computer skills. I finally got my card and I have to start from zero because I spent so much time just concentrating on my job and my misery and on other superficial things, and now, in order to finally move on I am home on the 1st of the year surrounded be a million "how to" books in order to be able to learn new things and get a better job that is obviously going to require more skills. The only thing I give myself credit for is starting an "after GC goals" list, because I have been doing things I always wanted to do and enjoying it, and crossing them off my list.
Also, I don't think you're really being jealous, I think you're just upset that other people with similar or less skills than you get to move on to better things, and that's really, very normal. I was there too, and tons of people on here go through the same thing. Life is unfair that way sometimes and it's all about how you make your lemonade out of lemons. So, my advice to you again is to use this waiting time to learn new things, even if you practice calligraphy, just keep busy, do something, so when you finally reach the end of the line you can say, f this, this took forever, but at least I don't feel like a damn loser.

I wonder if that is possible.. How did your lawyer find out?
My lawyer is saying that even if you want to file I-485 now, the USCIS has advised Fedex and UPS not to deliver any mail to that PO BOX. In that case I am not sure how one could become member of the class action law suit.

On an PIO you can stay how ever long you wish to, but after 180 days, you need to register with the district police station to get a certificate of extension. this is usually valid for about 2 years. you can renew that every 2 years.
If you are on an OCI, then the above restriction on PIO does not apply. You have all the prvileges of an India citizen, except that you cannot vote and hold agricultural land.
I am not sure about sutdying at Indian citizen rate. You might have to pay the fees in USD, if i am not mistaken.

We have some rough plans for 2009.
We need to wait for some time to see how immigration bill becomes a priority. We anticipate some more placeholder bills that will make a statement. However in the end, there will have to be a bi-partisan effort and strong will to write a CIR. I feel economy will take priority initially but they will have to look at immigration sooner than later. Admin fixes is another possibility we see. While the EB2 India and China are now getting direct benefit from horizontal spillovers, in 2009 we need to meet again with the administration and make a good case about EB3 India, China and EB3ROW backlogs. The problem seems to be increasing due to limited visas per year. This is the reason dates have not been moving. Several Other small items for admin fixes are also in brainstorming stage. At your end, please try to spread the word about IV. We can be successful in all our initiatives only if we can get more participation. Thus we need to get more EB India, china and ROW members in the IV fold. This must be our top priority early this year before we launch our big campaigns.

We have well meaning intentions for everyone in every category and country and want to help and bring relief. We have some rough plans for 2009.
We need to wait for some time to see how immigration bill becomes a priority. We anticipate some more placeholder bills that will make a statement. However in the end, there will have to be a bi-partisan effort and strong will to write a CIR. I feel economy will take priority initially but they will have to look at immigration sooner than later. Admin fixes is another possibility we see. While the EB2 India and China are now getting direct benefit from horizontal spillovers, in 2009 we need to meet again with the administration and make a good case about EB3 India, China and EB3ROW backlogs. The problem seems to be increasing due to limited visas per year. This is the reason dates have not been moving. Several Other small items for admin fixes are also in brainstorming stage. Sorry, but I don't agree. This can get annoying. Sending flowers was a different thing a super brilliant idea...but bath-stoppers...where will the USCIS Director forward those?

If point sysem is introduced the big losers are immigration lawyers as they cannot make money in multiple stages. So no wonder if they oppose. Of course there is some limitations but its sucess depends on rules and regulations. Also there is going to be a Cap and there is going to be a provision to prevent displacement of US workers as the worldwide demand is always here. But main advantage is it will bring down the work load of various agencies like DOL and INS also employers.
the reason it will never work is not the lawyers. the immig lawyers for the most part are honest people.
the problem is the employers. employee's loss is employer's gain. it is simple enough. if the point based immigrant is allowed in with a EAD or a green card (like in canada/australia), the employers lose out big time.
The only reason h1 exists is because employers want cheap labour. That is why they want more h1s. Because h1s are justified from business point of view, that is why it is illegal to charge the employee for the h1 costs.
But they never talk about how the h1s get screwed.
Because the h1s are screwed by them.
