By the way, I checked the Indian Customs website (BAGGAGE RULES (http://www.cbec.gov.in/customs/cs-act/formatted-htmls/cs-rulef.htm)) and the limits on jewellery that can be brought in duty-free is:

All,
i am new member of this community . I greatly appreciate the effort that IV is putting forward to address immgration issue .
I got my green card recently and now i want to leave a blood sucking employer whom i work as independent Contractor after i got my EAD for 3years .Because of his torture of not paying me on time and defaulting some payments and constant harassments i called to quit .
Now i got an offer from a client to join as full time . Now he is threating me with some non compete clause which is redundant , when i signed he said that i cant join his competition .Now he is saying that i cant join with the client as well and threating to pursue legally against me.
i have lot of money at stake. Gurus i greatly appreciate if any one can throw some light in this area and possibly provide me any Lawyers in NJ area .

It is always good to have your documents in order. If you are aware of the problem, why don't you have it fixed?
It may very well be a typo. on the card, and everything else may be in order. For example, what does it say on your credit report? If it is the other way round, then there is problem that must be fixed.
I would have it fixed it anyway.

CIS have been targeting reducing processing times for applications including I-485 (for I-485 they want it to be <180 days). Which they are doing, based on their definition of pending (non retrogressed approvable application). They can easily achieve this, give retrogressed countries/categories bare minimum and they process all other applications as quickly as possible. Which explains all of the following..
EB3 made unavailable (they have used all the visa numbers)
EB2-India move way back (they have used all the visa numbers)
EB1 and EB2 quick approvals (for all current categories) average down to 200 days
There were around 3000 visas for EB2-1 and EB3-I , considering 1.2 dependent this means GC for no more than 1400 families in each category. The math is simple getting that many applications processed in first 6-8 months was not difficult.
To add to the woes we have following, which add to the problem, but are not the primary problem.
Labor substitution
EB3-EB2 jumps
Very old name-check cases

Thks for your prompt response snathan, but I've been getting paystub from my new employer Company B (so far I've got 2 paystubs) so in this case I can't possibly getting Pay Stubs from both Company A & B right?
The act suggested in the post above is illegal.
Your work with Company B is also illegal. You cannot start working for a different company until you have the H1-B petition submission receipt.
Your simplest and recommended course of action is to go out of the country and come back again. This will cause you least grief. But as you know, that course of action does entail the risk that your visa application could be denied.

am staying in US for d past 4 yrs ,have a H1 B visa. i want to invite my younger brother and mom for a ONE month visit to US.My mom has already got 10 yrs of visa as she visited dis place in 2008. My brother has just completed his engineering , is 21 yrs of age and has got placed in infosys.His joining date is in December, so would it be easy for him to get d visitors visa as even i want him to have some fun b4 starting off with his work life. Should he carry his offer letter with him and also would it b wise to book d ticket in advance and show them d return ticket as a proof just to tell them tat he will b back in a month and also would like to know the other questions which r expected. My LCA was approved in July 2007.
My lawyer sent the I-14 application to USCIS in January 2008 before the 180 day period but my employer dated the USCIS fee check as 2005.
The USCIS returned the application asking us to re-send the application with a new check.
My lawyer sent the application again with a new check but by the time this application reached USCIS the 180 day period was over and USCIS returned the application again stating that my 180 period is over and they cannot accept the I-140 application now.
I am in the process of filing a fresh Labor Cert again. I guess now I will get a priority date of July 2008 and therefore I am losing 1 whole year in this process.
Is there a way out and will USCIS accept my application? The bad part here is the first application sent was before time but the check date was wrong.
All suggestions are highly appreciated.

How about the opposite problem. The LC wages are lower that what I am being paid. the LC reflects what I was being paid at the time it was filed. not sure if the lawyer screwed up. Right now, I am doing a similar job (non-IT, non-technical), but with wider responsibility and earning ~ 40% more. What now??

I filed concurrently for I-140 and I-485 through NIW petition; and for my wife as dependent beneficiary. I received an RFE in Dec 2008 and got a denial yesterday.
1. Will my I-485 be denied automatically?
2. When we appeal for I-140 decision, will the I-485 status be "pending" or will it be denied first and then activated after subsequent approval of I-140?
PS: the reason for the rejection is unknown.
Please respond ASAP.

RTC is going to buy mortgage paper for market rate not for actual worth which would destroy banks balance sheets and dollar value.
Housing market did not stabilize until 1995, housing picked up due to late 1990's IT boom , so RTC would not stop plunging housing market , housing correction still years away.
anticipate sluggish GDP for years which would translate into bad income growth, housing would not improve when personal income deflates.

Your post is confusing. Can you please add details. Is her visa (stamping) denied or her I 797 (H4 approval I forget the number its I5XX something) that was not approved? I am assuimg its the later. Any case its always prudent to exit the country immediately in order to maintain status.

Use FOIA form to get a copy of your I-140 approval notice. It is a slow process. Can take upto a year to get the document.

hey! why it is like that?? last month, feb 15 08, the processing date was July 31, 2007 and how come now updated mar. 15 and the processing date became june 08, 2007??? WHY?? my friend got her gc already, hers date was july 19...she got her gc!!so wats up with that!!Do you think they will send mine (july 22)?im so upset!pls reply soon!
