Urgency of getting a receipt is that once you get the receipt, it means that USCIS has 'accepted' your application and it will not be rejected for lack of initial evidence.

No way CIR or any form of amnesty for illegal will happen in the next few year.
Immigration is one thing where majority of Americans are united in controlling illegal population.
It can pass Senate but House it will never pass.
Moment CIR comes up, the right wing will arouse the masses. House members focus on more
local issues and in many districts people don't want illegal amnesty or CIR. They want a crackdown.
Democratic members in the House will never pass CIR against a Republican opposition otherwise they will pay a heavy price in the election.
In fact democratic party was able to get the house by selecting conservation candidates in the
conservative districts. That is was the Howard dean/Rahm Emanuel strategy. Select candidates who can win rather than candidates who are steadfast with core democratic party principles.
Thus you have democratic party members like Jim Webb who are ardent supporters of the NRA
(pro guns) in a state like Virginia.
Lamar Smith, Zoe Lofgren, Xavier Becerra,Howard Berman, Lincoln D�az-Balart, Luis Guti�rrez, Nydia Vel�zquez,
Adam Putnam, Anthony Weiner.....all run in Hispanic leaning districts and therefore want CIR. But Congress members
from other districts cant support this.

In my opinion, we should not spend any resources on this guy and or to oppose who oppose our views.
We should stick to getting our goals achieved instead of fighting those who are fighting us.
Dear IV Core - our next media effort must be to expose the lies that Lou Dobbs creates to spread hatred.
Believe me, it is people like Lou Dobbs who are playing these dirty games.

Defence deals , trade , outsourcing and immigration have always been very closely related all these years . The main reason that Obama was in India was to sell American wares and the No 1 list of his agenda was the $10.1 Billion MMRCA deal apart from future contracts on India's Nuclear Power generation program.
India on the other hand too has always lobbied the US on H1Bs and overall outsourcing issue and the deliberate maligning of Indian outsourcing companies was responded to with a warning by India that the US will be seriously disadvantaged in its other trade with India should US politicians continue to target Indian IT companies and IT engineers particularly.
This was clear in the Doha talks starting in 2007 and later years in where India chose to bring specifically the H1-B visa issue always , although the Doha talks might not have been the right forum to bring such issues. ( see link below )

What if you apply 485 on your own and then, employer fires you just because, you did not abide by his rule. What would happen in that case ? I guess, in most of the cases where employer is creating problem with 485 filing, ppl might not be wanting to go on their own due to above mentioned problem.

If you join as a PM somewhere ...you need to be aware of things line earned value, risk register, critical path, management reserves, contract change control system, stages of team formation, types of Org..etc..etc..which is common terminology for PM's..so unless you want to join as a PM and blink you want to get certified..
Most manager jobs require this certification ...like you would go to a dentist to deal with problems with your teeth...not that a general physican cant do it..but a dentist specailises in teeth care..just like it PM is a separate proffession..I have seen MBA getting PMP ceritified..
For a Reason ..among all the certs ...this is the 1st or the 2nd most sought after..in the world..

As far as I know dream act does not offer anything for legal kids. Its all about kids of undocumented workers.
I am not quite sure why should I support this bill. Unless this bill includes age out protections for legal kids or legal kids get the same benefits as kids of undocumented workers, I don't think many people would support this.
Please let me know if you know any provisions that help us or hurt us . I am open to change the mind ...

If moderators feel it is against the forum guidelines they can delete my posts or threads and I am fine with this. This is called discipline and respect for system and authority. We are using someone's property when we post on this forum. We do not own it.
In your office do you ask your CEO/VPs to first send you a one liner explaination before he takes a decision on your project? Think about it

In my case I don't even know if it is namecheck that is blocking my case. So far my guess is that it was just the huge deluge of July 2 applications under which my application got stuck. But now that they have opened my application and mailed an RFE on Oct 22, at least I know that some IO is processing my case. Right now I am eagerly waiting for the RFE details. My law firm(FDBL) has not received it yet. I am pinging them every other day.
To answer another question from another poster, yes, I have been with the same company since 2001.
