There were times when I was really depressed, specially when I got delayed in New Delhi with "Name clearance" for H-1 renew. However, I believed in higher power and never lost hope. My parents (mother US citizen,father GC) always kept my spirits high. I also got a lot of support at my job (when I got stuck in India, my chief pulled all strings possible to get me cleared).
I also had a backup plan, where I could go to Canada or worst, can go back to India where I have an established practice.
Botomline, do not loose hope and work hard.

I believe Mbhai did a dis-service by negating good advice. What is the guarantee that the 2nd women that this guy marries will not ask for divorce? The best thing he can do is find a way to reconcile, unless there is marital infidility.
I believe "snathan" story was inspiring and addressed the true problem of that individual and every indivudual's life. Trust me, when you all get your GC's ...it will be these things that will matter to all of you, rather than anything else.
I think we, in this forum, should get more mature in handling others personnel issues. The reason I was against that "snathan" story was that we are trying to play goody goody for no reason. We are in a country where the divorce rate is the highest..then why don't we open this forum for all of those people..let's play good Samaritan to everyone...

Complaint to USCIS...I know of one such body shopper who did the same thing...sold one labor to 10 people...when the fraud was caught...the employer was arresetd and the remaining 9 people who bought the labor were deported out of US...u should get the labor bak in ur name....fight for it...if you think this may bring ur downfall....take down ur employer with u...

Just imagine what will happen to the market flooded with EADs. Job market for H1Bs will totally be down. No US companies will hire H1Bs if they get somebody with an EAD. Tonnes of Junior developers and S/W testers will in the market driving the billing rates down even further. It's better to pack up and leave. I have heard from one of the forums here that an estimated 500K people will file this month since all PDs are current. EB-3 mexico + phillipines togther alone will be close to 300K. God help the Job market.
Also minimum wait time will be 500K/140K ~ 4 yrs before they get to process your GC. Add to that the time for namecheck backlog 2+ yrs. So total 6+ yrs before getting GC........

I don't think so. For an appeal - those boxes must be checked. Once again - I might be wrong.

In general a person who is in the US should have a valid and unexpired passport at all times. In addition, there is a whole loooooong list of documents that you attach to the I485- your attorney should advise you on this. The most important once for employment based immigration are documents showing legal status up until the I485 application and current offer letter from your company. There are many many more documents you need to provide...search the net for the necessary documents...

Final Q, how long it took from day1 of EB2 filing to filing I140 this week ?
My PERM was filed on 30th March, approved on Aug 11th, received approval copy on 18th Aug, and I-140 to be filed this week.
There was a lot of prep work involved before filing PERM in March. My employer agreed to start the process in Oct'09 and the lawyers started the ads in early Jan.

I wish they invested in R and D and innovation and products instead of services. Service industry is mainly governed by dealing with cost efficient labor. These companies reach out to IITs IIMs get the best and brightest and dump them into the service sector and start earning on them.
If they changed their business modal and started investing in products and Rand D, it may not give them quick money, but the results will be beneficial on the long run.

For example, stock brokers used to charge $200 and above for stock trades; however, electronic brokers came and made the industry efficient and hence can profit more by charging only $10 or even less. But this does not mean that the stock brokers are earning less. In fact they are earning more than before. However, their value additions come from faster settlement times and high volumes. This is easier to analyze. Now look at London or Hong Kong -- what services it provides and why is it booming?

yesetrday on CNN, AC 360, there were two latino ladies (US Citizens) and they kept saying that this bill is illegal and should be vetoed.
All latinos want other latinos to come to USA and have the numbers/political influence to get them GC's via amnesty before legal immigrants.
None of those ladies said they did not support illegal immigration, they just kept ranting about racial profiling.

Can't agree more. This is nothing but harassment. What has drivers license got to do with employment or immigration status ?
I don't understand how many of our members think that this is the right thing to do. Haven't we got enough chains on us already ? :rolleyes:
We are like beggars in this country. This country and its people do not want us here and are doing everything permissible under law to throw us out of here (if no law then they just make one up).
But we are such suckers that we do not want to leave this country and go back home. Gandhi fought to get rid of white masters but we were destined to serve one anyway. I don't understand why I don't live in my own country and contribute to its economy. Why am I tolling so hard to live here? I don't know when will my hard head understand this silly concept.

It would be interesting to see how Infy, Wipro etc... will do business when $ == 32 Rs, they will start looking for offshoring to African countries where $ is cheaper.
Once the dollar touches that low, expect huge salary cuts across the board for the employess of these companies.

Not related to this thread but I did not want to open a new thread for this question..
As you can see I am EB2-I (info above) and am waiting in line for my turn but I am just wondering if L1 route to GC is quicker? If so then how?
Not that I am trying to do it because I can not :) but I know someone who just got his GC via L1 in matter of months and here we all EB guys are waiting..

In a way it is always RD, even if it is retrogressed, they process by RD within the eligible cases with some exception scenarios.
I think when its current then its the I-485 RD. If its retrogressed then your PD is very important.

CORE members, do you have any inputs here? It necessarily doesnot have to be agreeing with us, just that ur silence bothers me!
Considering the current economic situation, i donot expect much progress in addressing country quota elimination/CIR's.
We should atleast try to get our issues addressed in bits and pieces. Overall, anything to address retrogression should be welcomed! rather than 'debate and beat the horse to death.'
