Your need to also wish that legal immigration issue is included in the bill as senators might CIR at the expense of the legal immig issue......you do not provide them the votes they need
Wishful thinking - Would be nice if the court went against AZ and asked the congress and senate to resolve the issue soon through legislative action. :)

This guy with absolutely clean record was held for 11 weeks for verification and lost his father in this process..
I have been trying for last 8 weeks non-stop in front of computer and I am not able to even see any open appointment...
WE REALLY NEED TO RAISE HELL ON THIS...
SENDING LETTERS TO CLINTON or may be IV rep team to meet her on this issue...
A lot of guys are stuck and have suffered for no reason...
Can you bring your friend here. If we can add stories from people who suffered, it would add more value.

Possibility of CIR happening diminishes each day passing by and as always every one acknowledge Immigration Reform as an important issue, but the reality, it is not as important as the other issues, economy, jobs, housing crisis, etc .
Only window the Democrats have to do something about CIR is in the lame duck session, but it is easy said than done and could cause a deep divide among the parties that already have a bitter relation. If not in lame-duck session, then nothing untill after 2012 election.. that pushes to 2013.
One of the promise Obama ran the first presidential election on was CIR and if none is done on that, he probably should write off the Latino votes, without which he cannot win again. Also getting a CIR through the Republican controlled house, that the Senate also agrees on -- don't think it will happen and well.. Also time now is to plan on re-election strategy for 2012 election for Obama and team.
Only slim chance is before this congress term ends and not sure, if they can get something through. There is a very slim chance it might occur.. but again Media and special interest groups could blow it up too...
Will have to see how it goes.. or if the blame game / finger pointing keeps continuing...

We don't even advocate for anything, just post things on the forum. IV has given us immigrants a platform - many of us don't even know it, let alone using it.
If we want to stay in this country, we need a president who can take this country progressively to the future instead of "lets take the country back" "this is not the country I grew up in" rhetoric! If this country goes backwards in time while the rest of the world embraces progress - guess what? - No use having a GC here.

Recently I had a very bad experience with CGI Houston. The CGI Houston is one of the horrible consulate that any one can imagine. I applied PIO card for my new born. I forgot to send the birth certificate with the application. They rejected the application and sent all my documents to my friends home address who was also applied PIO card for his child. Surprisingly he got one more guy�s (he is from another state) PIO card application and documents in the same package. I was lucky enough that it reached my friends hand. Otherwise I could not imagine what would have happened to my application and also the Certified Check.
I don�t know the consulate want to save courier money or they are irresponsible?

My lawyer has specifically recommended against re-filing. He said exact duplicate applications in the system is a really bad idea and could get to both being rejected. This is different from the case that if one has missed something in the first one, he can re-file.
No where in the I-485 standard operating procedure do they mention that second filing will be rejected. This is what they say:
"Second filings refer to I-485 applications submitted to a service center with
a new filing fee even though one may be pending at another INS office.
Second filings will be handled under the normal process."
Just mention in the cover letter that you are mailing again because you didn't get a receipt notice even after 60 days and that USCIS has issued an update that they have processed all application past your mailing date.

"This loss of visas is due to: (1) gaps in USCIS� accounting of cases; (2) USCIS not processing enough pending applications in a timely manner; and (3) the imprecise art of predicting workflows and demand surges at three federal agencies: Department of Labor (DOL) (approves labor certifications); USCIS (processes immigration petitions after completion of labor certifications and processes green card applications for applicants in the United States); and DOS (establishes priority dates and processes immigrant visas from applicants outside the United States). There will be severe consequences from rapid fluctuations in priority dates. If the priority date became current today, due to delayed USCIS processing and thus underutilization of visa numbers, some have predicted that within a few months as many as 500,000 to 750,000 individuals now residing in the United States under a temporary worker visa could apply for a green card. Additionally, DOL�s recent backlog elimination efforts, scheduled to be completed by September 30, 2007, are predicted to add 70,000 or more approved labor certifications yielding as many as 170,000 additional green card applications. As USCIS begins to complete these applications and request visa numbers from DOS, the 140,000 statutorily authorized visa numbers will be used. DOS then will be required to retrogress priority dates. Consequently, most applicants in this scenario will find themselves trapped whereas they anticipated timely receipt of a green card, their wait exceeds seven or more years. In addition, all future employment-based green card applicants effectively would be barred from applying for many years.38"

Those who complains about curruption in back home, will NOT try to improve system back home and also in case of GC processing, their contribution will be only "Negative comments" but NO constructive approach to improve ANY systems..

Dear friends, why do you seek to start bashing your country at the first opportunity you get. THere are people in the Indian Govt who are negotiating on your behalf to make sur you get your money back.
THen on the question of paying bribes to get money out of PPF - something is better than nothing. Why complain. If it is so bad, go back and fight to fix the system, otherwise stop maoning. India is the only country that will welcome you if you are kicked out of here. I remember i used to pay 50 INR per ticket for a railway seat, now i go online and book a ticket. Things change they take time and patience.
Only those people who have NEVER bribed anyone to get stuff done illegally, or out of turn should speak. And i know there is no one, since you are in US and came on a passport and we all know how passports are obtained.
You left india, want to stay away, so leave it alone. When you are kicked out of everywhere, the doors will still be open, just keep some cash for the gatekeeper.
Lets discuss whether this swap will be possible or not, or what the loopholes are.
