I will be sending the following note to my senator and have already posted it to WhiteHouse.gov. I urge all those screwed by the ongoing retrogression to do the same.
"I am writing to inform you of how the country based quotas imposed on Employment Based green cards are unfair and totally illogical. When I immigrated to the US, I believed that this country was a meritocracy where you were judged based on your abilities and qualities. These country based quotas reward people depending on where they or their ancestors were born. This causes people from India and China to wait over a decade to get a green card whereas someone from another country with similar or lesser abilities can obtain permanent residence in half that time.
Since these EB category based green cards are awarded for professional skills, imposing a country based quota just does not make any sense. I urge you to work with Congress and change this discriminatory policy and reinforce that America is truly a society that celebrates meritocracy."

May be it's true that labor and 140 belongs to the company, but they just can't take money from employees and sell it to someone.
Sure, they can. There was nothing in the law forbidding them from doing that and they abused the system badly which has resulted in a permanent ban on substitution.
You cannot do anything about them using the Labor for someone else. Perhaps you can do something about them taking money from you to file 485 and failing to do that. If you can prove this with a clear paper trail, then you stand a good chance on this one.

For expediting Interfiling, nothing in specific. I called USCIS 3-4 times and did one infopass visit. Everytime, the answer was same, "No Information". Few times it was difficult to explain to them what interfiling is. Then, I learnt to say "PD Amendment" (My lawyer used that term) with the two separate approved I140s. I called USCIS last Friday (Jul/18/2008), and they told me to wait 4-5 MONTHS. You can see how much off they are and IIO and IO work for the same USCIS. It is Ludicrous.

Good question. I am in the same situation. My GG was approved Aug 6th and happen to attend an interview the same day.
I already used AC21 and may have used it second time for this if GC was not approved. So question is can you switch jobs within day of receiving CG ?
From forum search, it does seem ok to switch jobs. Its hard for me to find a valid reason on why we need to stick to the employer for 6 months or 1 yr.
There are cautious people (to say it right, paranoid people to put it blunt) who will not use AC21 or have the theory of sticking to employer for 6 months or 1 yr.
I am still pondering, but leaning strongly towards switching job if the offer is good.

Today I got a call from an officer in "immigration and customs enforcement" asking for an appointment to visit my residence for checing my immigration status.
I am on H1B visa.
I would appreciate if someone could give any sort of information related to calling for a home visit.

Yes it is just like someone asking labor sub to be allowed again in admin fixes so that they can get a sustitute labor and cut in line.
I don't think it is the CP filers' fault. They are not cutting in line. It is the USCIS who is sitting on their ass on these 485s while the state dept processes the CP files at the normal pace. It is a gamble to go with CP just like any other application in this GC mess. I know of guys who got their green card in 18 months while I spent 5.5 years in labor dept alone. But, that does not warrant chastising of the CP filers or anybody else for the Government's ineffiency (except in the case of labor sub).
But, I agree that the requests by the original poster should not be a part of IV's letter campaign.

Our goal from these meetings is simple: to get the issue on the radar.
Remember usually when lawmakers/lawmaker district office staff hear "immigration" they think "illegal immigration." Our presentation is usually the beginning of their education -- we have no expectation that they have "deep" or any knowledge of the nitty gritty.
All we want is that they send our material to their Immigration aide in DC, and recognize that there is an issue out there.
BTW, sbdol what volunteer team are you on?

Media is a double edge sword. Lets not jump or resort into these activities and hurt IV agenda. Media can spin things around and you will be aghast at what is reported and what the truth is. We are not completely done with flower campaign. In my opinion it has now gained momentum and we have to make sure media presents our cause in a right way. And that we get a positive coverage.

I am not trying to question your intent just trying to get some knowledge of facts. However your reasoning suggests that there are numbers available to overflow from EB2 World to EB2 India. My spouse's employer had applied for H1 this year and he got a receipt number. But the check has not been encashed. Now when I checked the status in website it says the following:

Application Type: I129, PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER
Current Status: Case Rejected because of Incorrect Fee
On April 30, 2008, we determined that this I129 PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER was not properly filed because you submitted incorrect fee. Therefore, we have rejected your case and returned it to you with all supporting materials, along with the fee. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the case with correct fee.

Employer is yet to get the documents back. He checked his records and says there is no mistake from their side including fee...
The question here is:
1. what does case rejection means? - Is it end of it or can it be reapplied with correct fee/ other supporting docs, it at all thats the case
2. If there is no mistake from employer side in filing,and if it is a kind of adminstrative mistake from USCIS side, can it be resubmitted?
I am confused...

Mr. Murthy didn't bring out the message correctly. If you read clearly his message is directed towards state govts which dont provide infrastructure and mandatory English as education. So, I think he meant that as long as state govts act upon giving good infrastructure and mandatory English, young talent will remain in India.
But r the bloody politicians listening?
The man is worth $1.6 billion and need not resort to such cheap gimmicks and hez no longer the chief of Infosys. And the guy who cant interpret a simple message and calling it a gimmick whoz he? Some small time programmer sitting in a corner typing stuff about Infosys/gimmicks???--- LOL. Give the revolutionary businessman some respect will ya?
