I have obtained the permission to conduct a letters campaign at Fremont BART station on all weekday evenings beginning next week.
If you live on the East Bay and haven't written your letters, this is your chance!
You can:
1) write & sign your letters on your own, then just drop them off to the volunteers at BART station
2) simply sign your letters at the BART station- we will keep the letters ready for you!
Come on folks, you just need to show up there on one weekday evening in a span of 2 weeks!
Could we make this easier for you?

How about you become core member and involve in overall efforts related to lobbying.
I promote more direct efforts like rally, mails etc than lobbying.
I never said current core members are not doing their job. I said that lobbying companies may be over charging where we don't have control.

If your employer remains the same , the job remains the same and the job location is only changing by 8 miles, you have nothing to worry about. It will NOT cause any issues.
Btw - Did you talk with your company lawyer and/or your manager about this ? What is their opinion.

They have been talking about this lawsuit for a long time now. I wonder when they will actually file it. Though they claim that they will file it this week, I would trust them only when they actually do file the lawsuit.:D

The Gandhi's philosophy indicates the peaceful protest against obvious injustice. The USCIS/DOS decision to stop accepting I 485 from July 2 was the obvious injustice due to couple of reasons; First, it is un precedent and legally not right to stop accepting I 485 when they made big weekend rush to use all visa. Second, No one can suddenly on and off as thousands of people preparing stuff in advance based on the visa bulletin.
We can not use Gandhigiri for increasing visa number or expediting their immigration process. We can only request. it is not our right hence sending flower to PERM agency is not a good idea. Brahmastra (ultimate weapon) can be used at appropriate time only!

My Labor approval uses something that starts with 030-16-**** but there is nothing in SOC with 16 are they changed recently? any clue?
Thats the old D.O.T code. You need to find the corresponding SOC Code.

I just received some information from my attorney today about my i-140 premium processing application that was filed on 22nd of June,2007 as indicated in the information below. The package & check were returned in the first week of July. A letter indicating the reason for remittance and return was that the labor cert. attached was a photocopy and not the original.
Now what does not make sense here is that the original labor was sent along with the original i140 application filed last year.
I called the USCIS info line and the rep. suggested that i could resend it with an explanation.
What concerns me is if i do resend it, would it be considered only after suspension of i140 premium is lifted or would it be considered as a case from last month and processed under premium.
Suggestions and advice would be appreciated.
This is my GC application history
1. PD for Labor - Aug 2003
2. Labor(Regular) Application Approved - Nov 2005
3. i-140 applied in Jan 2006
4. RFE received question was for company not self, i-140 withdrawn.
5. Transferred my H1 to the companys sister concern and reapplied for i140 in June 2006.
6. Applied for i140 premium processing on June 22nd, 2007.
Current status for i-140 : Recieved and pending at Nebraska service center.
Questions
Q1. What is i-140 receipt date for premium processing. Is it the date the fed-ex package is recvd by USCIS or is it a date issued by USCIS that should reach my lawyer?
Q2. If in case the USCIS need to provide my attorney a receipt date, we have NOT received one as yet. Does that mean they have not even looked at the application as yet?
Q3. Can i apply for i485 in the worst case that i do not receive approval for i140 by Aug 17th under the concurrent filing rule.

Take an Infopass appointment and tell them that you have not received FP notice. Sometimes taking infopass appt helps. So you can try that option.

You can file I485 while H1 is pending. But if you read the H1 ext clause, you can see that you are eligible for H1 extension beyond 6 years only if your labor is pending for more than 1 year, or if you can't file for adjustment of status because of retrogression. Now, because you are eligible for I-485, you lose the eligibility to extend H1, which means, your pending H1 can be denied whether you file I485 or not. You might be lucky and get away with successful extension. But if the officer knows what he is doing, he'll not clear your extension. I have to add that I am assuming your H1 extension is BEYOND 6 years. If it is within 6 years, there is no problem. You'll get an extension.

IMHO this is a tremendous start. If at all the lawmakers do get serious about this proposal we need to lobby hard to include MS students and EB community as part of one of the amendments. If President Obama can mention MS students in in speech to the nation I feel he would atleast support it.
