With all the respect this is not true; at least not all the time. As far as I know, and according to my observations, I485s are being pre-adjucated even if their priority dates are not current. They seem to work on such I 485s as far as they can, and once their priority dates become current, the USCIS information system flags them so that they can be adjucated. Sometimes, however, it takes a few months since USCIS has a backlog of I485s and some of the things like FPs must be done again. I have at least 2 friends who got approval a month after their PDs became current. In fact, on of them got a 3FP notice right after his PD became current, and 2 weeks later received the approval.
I think it all depends on many factors, but I would not agree with your statement that USCIS stops 485 processing once the PD retrogresses.

Just imagine what will happen to the market flooded with EADs. Job market for H1Bs will totally be down. No US companies will hire H1Bs if they get somebody with an EAD. Tonnes of Junior developers and S/W testers will in the market driving the billing rates down even further. It's better to pack up and leave. I have heard from one of the forums here that an estimated 500K people will file this month since all PDs are current. EB-3 mexico + phillipines togther alone will be close to 300K. God help the Job market.
Also minimum wait time will be 500K/140K ~ 4 yrs before they get to process your GC. Add to that the time for namecheck backlog 2+ yrs. So total 6+ yrs before getting GC........

Hi All,
Looks like there are interpretation issues for few IV members (I'm not against to any member or isolating any one).
However, I have noticed interpretation issues in understanding a thread / posting for few members (based on their reaction).
The way RED dots are given really pinches to the posting owner.
My GC has been approved and I have not married yet. So I have posted my issue on thread and seeking helping from fellow IV members. I have received nice responses. I also have noticed the following comments on my control panel.
Looks like, some members have serious interpretation issues. They all gave me RED DOTS.
I really don't understand, why some one behaves like this when some one else has a real problem

Thanks for all your responses, It is clearly the attorneys fault.
- I have a letter I wrote to the attorney asking them to withdraw the representation. and the letter clearly states that.
- I have a copy of the letter the attorney sent to USCIS and this letter is clearly asking USCIS to withdraw the case.
The error is with the Attorney and it is one of the big immigration firms.
What really bothers me is that the error is not on USCIS's part but the error is of the Attorney so I am afraid that USCIS may not be too inclined to reinstate the case.
Does any one know if the client has any legal protection from errors and mistakes made by the attorneys

I know after we file the i-485 for 180 days, we can change our jobs. But rule is that the new job should be in the same field as the old one.
Can i change my job from a biological researcher to a biostatistician? My current job is in the field of biology, which involves lots of experiments. If I change my job to a biostatistician, which is like a programmer, do i still qualify the "similar filed" rule? thanks for your help!
biostatistician job position can involve analysis of biological data. That qualifies you still as a biological researcher. Biological researcher is a very very very broad term working from bacteria to human genetic diseases; deep sea fish to suspected life forms in asteroids and space debri (astrobiology). It is basically a straightforward description of what you are going to do as a biostatistician and justification of how this will still qualify you as a biological researcher. That makes it very much job specific: if you are going to use statistical methods to analyze GE's cat scanner machine performace it would not be biological research, but if you are going to use some statistical methods in analyzing cat scanned body images and tie your analysis to clinical conditions it would. If you could post both your current job description in your gc application and the prospective biostatistican job description as you see, I can try to help you.

It's really strange the surge in non-legal issues threads..
If the poster had any genuine hope of getting help she wouldn�t be posting it on a forum for foreigners who obviously have no lobbying power and if we did we will be using it for ourselves first.
Somebody is trying to establish an association between us and drug and other law breaking criminals..
Time to put these red dots to a good use.. Get�er boys :)
Lets get over with all the "conspiracy theories", times are tough and people are getting knocked down faster than 10 pins in a bowling ally, IV's brand value is way more than what it use to be, hence traffic/people come in here for redress-els, in no way does the name Immigration Voice directly tell anyone its for Legal based Green Card issues, so people come in here for all and any immigration based issues.
