So jsb if congressman and Ombudsman doesnt work either is there anything which will work ? Can one actually go physically to the Service Center and ask to speak to the PRO (Public relations officer) or something ?
I have heard on this forum someone doing that, i.e. flying to Texas and asking to meet those who matter. Initially they did not entertain him, but eventually he succeeded. It costs nothing trying via the Ombudsman route, may be a bit if a hassle via the Congressman route. You should try both. Mention your situation, clearly bringing out the anomally. Ask if you are cleared on all fronts and your PD is current what is holding up. It might work....Best of luck.

Xenophobia (fear of foreigners) has always been high in the US, though not always on the surface. Most probably we remind them of their own history of invading the native american's land, killing him and occupying his land.
Back in the 1850s, Ireland went through the great potato famine which killed millions. A number of survivors migrated to the US where they met with hostility from local Americans who were scared these foreigners would take away their jobs. This has been going on since 150 years and is not a recent development.
In 1997, unemployment in the US was zero and so no American felt threatened by foreign presence. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and everything was hunky-dory for new immigrants. However, the situation is considerbly different today with increased outsourcing and brown desis seen everywhere in the US - especially in walmarts.
With all this, it is inevitable that an immigration reform that will put an end to all our woes is not going to happen. However, we can try our best and hopefully expect at least some reprieve in the forthcoming revamp. If not, then we have Bangalore, Hyderabad and Noida where we do not have to spend an average of 2 hours everyday brooding over immigration issues.

The best thing to ask for is a "time factor". If you have been in the US LEGALLY for a certain number of years (say 5 years), then you can apply for a Green Card (GC). That way people who have put some roots here over time will be able to become permanent residents. It also provides an incentive to immigrants to stay in status.
Why should there be a time factor from "GC" to "Citizenship" and none from visas like H1 to "GC"? It doesnt make sense! After all, I would think it should be harder to become a Citizen than to becoming a GC holder.
US should look up north to their Canadian neighbours for a good immigration system. A point system too would not be bad. It can determine how deep you have put down roots and then give you GC based on that.
Take for example, someone educated in the US, has been working on H1B for 4 years and with three kids that are American Citizens, and posses two properties in the US. It doesnt make any sense for that person not be able to becomoe a PR. Infact if he loses his job today, he's shown the door... that same day.

I read on USCIS website update on Sept 28 that CSc is assisting TSC to enter the applications. My transfer notice states that application is still under TSC/ But I am also not sure which center will finally process

They need to make EB GC process a linear one, meaning that you file for labor, then I-140, and I-485 as soon as your first two stages are cleared. Concurrent filing process is a hit or miss. It doesn't make sense anymore when you've so much retrogression.
This linear approach will be good for USCIS for two reasons:
1. They will get constant flow of applications rather than all at once. Plus they can control it by regulating the flow of I-140 approvals.
2. They will be able to better predict the visa movement based on their inventory.
For people like me, it will be good for two reasons:
1. I'll enjoy similar EAD/AP benefits that most of the people enjoy who filed during July 07.
2. No more H1B stamping.

Lou believes in quoting no facts, just bullishly repeating such views. Nobody who disagrees can ever get a word in. I am a specialist physician with multiple degrees and board certifications. I practice in underserved communities, speak fluent English and pay my taxes. My visa status is and always has been legal. Do I meet the Lou standards? I am waiting in an endless line for a green card that keeps me at the bottom based on my country of birth. So much for Lou's cheap labor! Has everyone forgotten his tacit support for outsourcing in his "other professional life"?
Shame on CNN for allowing this. I, for one, have no further interest in this channel.

If it is of any further consolation then here is my brief backgroud:
I am a Hindu by birth.
Did my schooling from a catholic school and know Bible's stories by heart and also had led choirs.
Did my B.S. Mechanical engineering from a prominent miniority university, Aligarh Muslim University.
So you see, I would be the last person to use this story to stereotype folks from any particular religon.
I will conclude by saying that polygamy in India is almost non existent. The story cited here is unique, irrespective of what religion the person belongs to, even though the laws may be permitting in certain cases.
If it is of any further consolation then here is my brief backgroud:

Most of the state colleges, (In my case, none of the state colleges), including under-grad and medical schools, will accept application, if you do not have GC/ US citizenship. I tried, wrote letters, but of no use.
You can apply and get admission in private college, which of course cost much more.
Also, we were not able to take any federal loans.
You may like to talk to the admissions office of the universities. Last year when my daughter was applying for college, we had to go around and talk to them. Took an appointment and explained the case.
We had asked only about admissions, resigned to the idea of paying out-of-state tuition. However, this counsellor got in touch with me, once the admission was confirmed, and suggested that I go to the bursar's office for tuition issues. And, there we got the great news that they had changed the rules in 2007, and that AOS candidates qualified for in-state tuition. Later we were able to get the same benefit for my elder daughter who was a senior in another state college.
Imagine the relief of having to pay in-state after coughing up out-of-state tuition for three years. This happened in Georgia.
So, to cut a long story short, yes you can be treated as in-state students for admission and tuition purposes. It only needs you to do some research and interacting with the offices. And of course, meeting some good persons. Incidentally, most of the counselors are great.

Is there any update on three bills in house. I have checked the hearing schedule for all committees and there seems to be no hearing scheduled for any of these bills. House is in session till September 7 and after that District work period and convention shows, which leaves us with just 4 weeks from now and after that It reconvens from September 9 with target adjournment date of 26th september and i m pretty sure no congressional rep will like to cast vote on any bills before going into election....
Prospects seems bleak now... Is there anything we can do...any last attempt that is required? If so...Let us all know...

I am not sure whether should I consider myself under EB2- Jan 2004 or EB3 Jan 2004. Because, I didn't get any confirmation of the case interfiled. Of course its just this week that lawyer that initiated the interfile.
