My father passed away recently and my mother wishes to travel with my wife and I on a visitor visa.
How can she apply for 10 year multiple entry visa? Can she return after the visa expires, after a month? Any experiences anyone can share? Are there any reasons why some visas get denied?
My wife and I are permanent residents and we want to know whether this is of any advantage/disadvantage.
Any pointers/info/help are much appreciated. I looked through the relevant IV threads and yes, they are informative but rules change all the time and I decided to just go ahead and post this thread to get the latest feedback.

I enter US four times this year by using AP, same airport, but different experience. 1st, 2nd and 3rd entry was sent to secondary check. But the 4th entry, the CBP said it's unnecessary for secondary check and fill new I-94 because previous officers are new guys, don't know the rule. I thought 1st entry is definitely need go secondary check.

Samething happened to me. On 11/25/2007 i saw a LUD on my approved I-140 (which was approved in Dec, 2006). And then LUD on 12/06/2007 and 12/07/2007 on I-485 for both self and spouse.
Not sure what it could be?? I filed I-485/EAD/AP in late July, 2007. Have received EAD and have done finger printing. Have not received AP yet. Filing Center in Nebraska. My PD is October, 2005, EB3 ROW.

I am happy to read this. My observation is that Indian-American US citizens generally don't care about the Indians who are going through the process of immigration. In November 2005 when some one approached IAFPE with retorgression problem, their NC chapter conducted a seminar in Raleigh and some 100+ members did sign a petition. But they handed over petition to Bobby Jindal and it looks like from what is reported elsewhere on this site, he belongs to anti immigrant camp. But except this seminar even this organization did not take more interest in this issue. But I hope India Community Center has shown way and more Indian-American as well as Chinese associations would come forward to support the issue. Can some one approach Asia Society in DC who last week organised a speech by President Bush?

Technically, you can do that. But it's better for you to transer your case to consular processing if you are not planning to be in the US for a couple years.
I forget to mention that it is for my wife. she is my dependent with EAD and AP. i know if she have green card she have to stay 6 months in usa. it that applies to EAD and AP also.

I responded to RFEs isuued to me on March 3rd 2009 which they received on March 4th 2009 and since then I also have LUDs almost everyday from March 4th 2009 until March 12th 2009. In my opinion, I don't think it really means anything. They could just be sorting out cases and issuing RFEs to every case that has paperwork missing or insufficient.

My lawyer says i can join company B as soon as USCIS has received my application for H1B transfer(by way of fedex tracking)? is this true or do we have to wait for receipt number/case number?
I need to know this because my company will not file I-485 until i join them but under the current backlog CSC is having a huge backlog with receipting H1B transfer cases.

The answer is Yes you can switch to new employer. Your H-1 does not matter anymore as you have applied for AOS and you have a valid EAD which you can use for AC21 portability for a new employer after 180 days.

I had my last name misspelled and middle name missing on my filed perm labor application and it was filed on 12/12/2007. It was selected for audit in Feb 2008 and have not received any update until now. Can this error in my name be corrected on my application. Please advice.
Sorry to say this, but it was dumb to have sent an application with misspelled last name! You got to check and recheck before filing it.
DOL audits do take a long time, write to them about the error. Also, get the help of an attorney (labor or immigration)
