I read some where that filing is allowed to Aug-17, but the new fees will effected on 01-Aug although July filers.
Correct me If I'm wrong.

New fees will apply to the ppl whose labor gets approved after July 31st. For all the guys who are eligible according to the June 12th Visa Bulletin, though they apply till Aug 7th, only old fees applies.

I recently went for my 10 year H-1B stamping in hyderabad in august end. I got the 221g slip and as in your case, the officer retained my passport. They requested info about my company which I duly provided in a weeks time. I got my visa approved and passport in my hands in early november so it took about 70 days. Obviously every case is different so I cannot say how long your case would be pending but my brother had to wait about 60 days for his visa stamping.
My company was ok with me staying back for the stamping. Though I have AP/EAD (July 2007 filer) I used the opportunity to spend time with my family. I came back last week with no issues at the POE. Good luck with your case

If I decide not to do extension, is it ok to stay in US for those 2 weeks until Oct1. so I can start working under H1 ?

I wouldnt do that. You can arrive 10 days early, but not sure if it would be applicable here. Even then you have more than 10 days to account for. You will not accumulate much out of status period. It should be 180 days of out of status before it gets ugly, but why invite trouble.
I think attorney would advise to file another non immigrant visa , generally a B1 ( tourist visa) for the interim period.
Thre is grace period for OPT - H1 for similar scenario. I dont think its applicable for L1B

Exactly same thing happened in my case. Our company prepared position description,posted ads and just before filing PERM,they said we got enough resumes and we found candidates. We cannot file green card. If economy improves after 6 months we will review the scenario and start the process all over again and I was schocked to hear that answer. They received 25 resumes for my position.

Green card dream is over. Now it's the time to get back to India or other countries.

EAD to H1 involves a status change that while being perfectly legal was just not envisioned policy wise as being a frequent occurrence.
Accordingly, the efforts to get back into non-immigrant status from an immigrant status is unduly complicated.
The reasons the conversion is complicated is because when you come back to H1B from EAD, you literally start from scratch, meaning you count against the cap and you also do not get a full 6 year term. In your case, if you switched back, you will have to wait for the cap to be available and you will get only 1.5 years unless you quailify otherwise for a full 6 year term. It is not enough that you were already in H1B because USCIS does not care about that. To them, you are going to a new status and that means you follow the rules for that just like anyone else.
Also, since you went back from AOS, USCIS may ask for additional documentation to record the reasons you want to switch. This is supposed to be only for cases where there are legitimate reasons to switch, like your AOS application has been denied and in order to continue staying in the US and explore other options, you need to maintain legal status, etc..etc..
Personally, I think the process is designed to be cumbersome in order to discourage people from doing it.
Disclaimer: This is based on what I heard from my attorney in part and my own research. Use at your discretion...

I got couple of weird updates in November one on my EAD and other on 140 which was apporved in 2006 .
I received my EAD in October but in November they updated my EAD again to approved on Nov XX 2008 , If this is true I should receive one more EAD but I did not.
Again today the status of my approved 2006 I140 changed to approved on Nov 5 th 2008 , I dont know if this is real . I will know in few days if I recieve other approval.
For me I m not worried because both of them are approvals again .. Your case is different but as long as you have your approved 140 you should be ok . But if you do not receive any update in few weeks I would suggest you take info pass appointment and check with them , dont take it easy.

If EB folks don't want to do anything for their own benefit, there won't be any hope even after 2009. We will be over shadowed by 12 million folks once 2009 kicks in. Good luck finding a solution then.
We already have 2 bills (HR5882 and HR 5921) in the Judiciary committee, did U call U'r lawmaker and seek support from him/her.
PD's don't move forward based on ppl praying, it moves based on supply and demand. Right now the demand is very high and the supply of visa is very low. We can improve the supply situation if the bills goes through.

I can certainly see both sides of the debate, and, frankly, neither side is being completely honest or clear. What is quite clear, is how immigration, and our broken immigration system, keeps coming up in the context of the debate of national agenda items, such as the health care debate.

Calling the President a Liar during his speech to a joint session to Congress is Exhibit A in what we have in store for the coming debate. If Joe Wilson the Immigration Lawyer can misrepresent the consequences of legislative language as straight forward as these two particular sections, we have to be prepared for the extraordinary misrepresentations of any positive aspects of an immigration reform bill. Whether it is "amnesty," "rewarding law breakers," "open borders," "Liars," or even "destroyers of American culture" we have to understand how to phrase and present the response. Without a doubt, the response from those of us who understand the need to balance immigration reform, with security concerns, and with economic growth has to be not only vocal, but focused. The outrageous claims of the downfall of America caused by illegal immigration, along with similarly nutty myths will be presented as facts. Actual real news organization will cite the Center for Immigration Studies as a legitimate source of information. We must be prepared to call into our local radio stations, whose hosts are in D.C. next week, and be prepared to present the facts of immigration. Not by sugar coating the problems that are caused by illegal immigration, but rather by pointing out which specific laws are broken (INA 212(a)(9) anyone?) and how having a comprehensive solution can actually fix the immigration pothole in the legislative superhighway. Immigration Lawyers it is time to Stand Up and be vocal and beat back the immigration myths (http://www.aila.org/content/default.aspx?bc=27924).

Hi,
Can some one help me out on the above subject, i had birthcertificate which contains only my Father's name( This birth certificate got from MRO office at AP, India). One of my friend told me that the birth certificate should contain both Mother and Father's Name.
Can some one provide me sample birth certficate , so that it will helpfull to me send to my parents, so that i will get BC from MRO office, AP, India.

So, do we have to code everything that goes into our projects? I mean, are we allowed to use particle engines (like Flint (http://flintparticles.org/)) or physics engines (like APE (http://www.cove.org/ape/))? I'm just curious; I don't really intend to use on of those.
