I see a lot of members being more passive.
What we would like to do is, if you an idea we are willing to listen. Before that, we would also like to share in this "Meet & Greet" event what IV has done so far and its accomplishments.
Lot of members proably look at IV as a forum where just threads are being created to discuss their problems.
But IV is not a just a web-site. IV has more out-reaching efforts to resolve the problem of backlog of employment-based green cards.
If you are from Long Island and you feel you would like to do something to resolve this immigration crisis, align yourself in this thread.
I hope more smaller "meet & greet" is the only way to lead ourselves to the "BIG RALLY" / "BIG INTIATIVE" what everyone wants. Without grassroots effort, a RALLY or any other BIG INITIATIVE is not going to happen.
We can only look at EADs for two years or Advance Parole cards come in package with the EAD without grassroot efforts. But if you want to bypass all these smaller incentives and look at the end result of getting your green cards, join your state chapters.

But just curious if there are any mainstream News channels or Media that is covering or publishing anything about the IV Advocacy event and IV's agenda?

The aim of advocacy day was to meet lawmakers. It was not really for media publicity. It was not a rally. Infact we canceled the press event that we originally planned to focus on lawmaker meetings. There are already hundreds of articles in the media on Greencard backlogs published in the last 4 years. Articles will anyways be published when there is activity in DC on this issue. Reporters contact us every now and then for stories. The most important work we need to do is meet our lawmakers in person and get relief on Immigration. We believe we have been very successful in the task of meeting lawmakers and administration officials during the advocacy days. This will help us in the Immigration reform next year. We now need to continually work on reinforcing and advocating our changes until the bill comes on the floor. You will see lots of media articles on this issue when there is any discussion on relief in the months to come.

I'm going to Canada on vacation for 2 days. I've read that if yr I-94 is valid and even if yr visa is expired you can return to US (thru automcatic revalidation)

My question is if you surrender yr I-94 to a Canadian inspector while crossing in to Canada, what do you show US immigration people while coming back? Do they stamp something etc? Has anyone gone thru this or knows abt this?

I believe she can continue to work if she files H1 extension and has a receipt notice. But if you are pursueing the EAD angle you will need an EAD card in hand physically to go that route. In a way its good that your employer is supporting the EAD efforts but that also takes longer because of documents and information exchanges with the attorney etc. Hope this helps

I would like to get my M-I-L's visa extended for couple of months, whose I94 is valid until June7th.
She got her multiple visa through her daughter , around 9 years back.They are no longer in US.Currently
Please let me know the following.
`a) The documents needed for extension.
i moved to a new employer and my previous employer who filed my GC has cancelled my H1.
currently iam working on EAD and haven't invoked AC21.
b)Can my m-i-l stay beyond her I94 date,until we hear from USCIS about approval/denial?

I can see potential, but the shot doesn't do much for me. What does interest me is the interplay of the branch, stump, and light on top of the stump. Can't tell if there's anything there, but might be worth exploring. Other angles might make the overall stump shot more interesting. Hard to say.

Many of us are getting 2 year EADs. Great job IV.
Why AP is not issued for 2 years ? Have any one got 2 year AP ?
Can IV please update on the 2 year AP ? Why it is not issued and anything we can do ?
The reason I am asking this is regarding driver license issues. Lots of people have returned to US using AP. We have got just one year valid I-94s. Each state has its own way of issuing driver license. Since all of us are legal immigrants under the federal system, I think USCIS should publish a memo as what documents are valid for driver license renewals.
Can IV please help on this issue ?

Yes, you will need an Advance Parole or an appropriate visa to enter the US from Canada. AP approvals are taking close to 3 months these days so you should e-file your application ASAP. Also, call USCIS at (800) 375 - 5283 to expedite your application once you have the receipt number since you need to travel at such a short notice.

If he went on vacation after getting the AP then ask him to use the AP to get back . He can still maintain his H1 status even if he comes back on AP.
