    Hi guys, thanks for the replies.

    I had the camera sent to Nikon for diagnosis last week, they wrote me an email just a few days back saying my power module had problems and it needed to be replaced. I requested they return the problematic power module so I could send it to an engineer friend of mine for examination. I'll let you guys know if I find anything new.

    Just 4 days ago Tantrik wrote me a message saying the same happened to him. I wonder if this is a problem with the D70 model because I've never seen Nikon equipment break so easily and I honestly did not expect to hear the same happened to someone else.

    Plus, as I explained, I did nothing to cause the problem. The camera laid there for a few days and when I turned it back on it was already bad.

    Total Cost for fix : U$ 300.00

    Nikon USA said they'd replace the camera for me but I bought it in Brazil. The local Nikon people charged me the above fee to fix it. Down here a D70 costs between U$ 2300,00 and even U$ 4000.00 in some shops. So the fix is worth it.

    If this is a structural problem with the D70 I will sell it and move to Canon. I just don't want to believe Nikon is making such disposable equipment.

    The camera was not purchased from the gray market and I have a proper tax receit with it.

    I don't think, anyone other than the USCIS/DOS will know the solution or whatever, at this time, untill the information is published to public. Applying AOS or not should be decided by you and your attorney. Not the core, Guess if the core has the updates that you are looking they might have updated in the home page :) by now...

    Well I'm also waiitng to see what would be the updates from USCIS, as my 485 papers are not yet submitted but ready to go and the attorney would make the decision based on how this truns out to be... WSJ article is the one that is updates in various website/blog. Have to wait and see...

    This email is useless as nowhere in the email the alien's name is mentioned.
    In USCIS website you only have the option to add a case with the receipt number. They don't verify whether this case belongs to you or not.
    If your company/attorney gives you a receipt # that belongs to another person�s I-140 application, still you will get this email.

    The only option you have is to request for a copy of I-140 using G-639 form under FOIA.

    I agree, the email response is no help.
    Can you please elaborate on how to request copy I-140 using G-639 form under FOIA?

    During my 2nd H1B stamping, I also faced the same situation in New Delhi consulate. I got 221g and the visa officer told me that my application need some adminstrative approval from DC and it will take 3-4 weeks. Those 4 weeks were painful. My whole vacation was runied. Anyway after 4 weeks I got a call from the Embassy and got stamped next day.
    But one of friend faced the same problem in New Delhi last year. For him, it took 6 months to get the name check done....So be prepared man...I am so sorry that you have to go through this...I can feel the pain...Now I am really scared to go for my next stamping as my visa has expired and I missed the July bus ....so I do not habe AP...:(((

    How (when) do you decide that you will take EAD or stay on H1B? Can you change your mind or it is a one time decision?

    Do you have to mantain status (pay checks) on EAD? I understand you need to mantain status on H1B?

    Sorry I am a moron.

    It is purely upto you to decide what do u want. If u r planning to stick with the same company that has your H1B, then no need to pursue EAD option. But if you are planning to get out of your current company and pursue different opportunity, then you can use ur EAD.

    No matter what the status(H1B or EAD) you are in, you need to be employed in the same position or a similar position as in your Labor Certification. If your Labor Certification says you are a Programmer you cant be a Project Mgr in EAD. Till you get your GC, you are compulsorily married to your profession and title.

    My EAD is pending for more than 90 days now.My received date is 27th July and Notice date is 31st Aug. I called USCIS and told that my application is pending for more than 90 days. The Level 1 officer acknowledged the fact and escalated the call to Level 2. The level 2 IO was very rude and simply deny to accept the fact that 90 days are over. She simply said that the USCIS is counting 90 days from the notice date not the received date. I told her that It is mentioned on the USCIS website that 90 days are from the received date. The IO officer scolded at me and said if I don't believe her words, then do not call USCIS.:mad:

    I guess there is no point calling USCIS and checking status on EAD. I am hoping that the situation will improve and i will soon get EAD card.

    If you want to try to speed this up, go online, make an infopass appointment at your local office and have them send an email or fax on your behalf.

    I am not excusing the IO's right now but can you imagine the amount of calls they have had to endure since the July fiasco and the mounds of applications that they are having to deal with through no fault of their own.

    No issues for me when I came back on H1B on 4/20/2009.

    I had a H1B stamped on my passport from my previous employer and I was carrying new H1B approval notice from my current employer. I got I-94 till the validity of my new H1B approval from my current employer.

    No issues whatsoever, no question asked and it was smooth sail.

    My Labor was rotting in BEC, and so I moved to another role, and will now have a PD of 2007 as a new labor will be filed, Rest of the world, EB-3......

    Got any predictions?????

    Mine are 1 year (if legislation goes through), to 12 years (if it does not.)

    I won't be that pessimistic about RoW. I'd say 1-3 years even if nothing passes.

    This is like giving them a small window to file within 10 days in the old rate other wise....pay the big chunk.

    Good tactics....it will be difficult for the people who do not have any medical appointments and other documents that need to come from other countries !!


    I think you missed the USCIS update. You can file till Aug 17th. So its the same amount of time one month from now.

    Can you share here or by pm the letter which you wrote to revoke your previous Attorney? I am also in the same boat where i want all my correpondence sent to me.
