i'm in search of three ipod shuffles and i need them as cheap as possible. iirc, the apple store for education is selling refurbs (which are okay, as long as they're apple recertifieds) for 79 each. if anyone can find something for 69 (or less!) please let me know. i need them as giveaways for a program at my school.
thanks...i appreciate it.
some principal you are least you could do would be giving the kids a new ipod shuffle you sound like my principal

That means the ACD would act as a hub
Are you sure about that?
AFAIK in a TB daisy chain the monitor must be the last....
EDIT: i was wrong.
Existing monitors with MDP will work in a TB daisy chain if used as the last peripheral. New monitors that will probably have TB ports can be used also in the middle of a chain or as a HUB....

A 2TB Seagate ST32000541AS on my 3.4GHz i7 with 2GB 6970M. I have not been able to get any details of this drive on Seagate's website.
Any pointers to more details will be helpful.
Thanks.

I had this when i got an imac a few weeks back... it's your desk. seriously!
Have a look at my previous threads and you'll find the details of the post and how i fixed it.
edit...... => this post... http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1137139&highlight=
Picked up a new 2011 iMac today and had the same thing, isolate the imac from the desk and it will go.
I had 2x 21,5" on the same desk, at the same spot and none of them made the noise. Just this one, the 3rd 21,5"
Edit: the first 2 imacs were the low 21,5". The 3rd is the high end 21,5". The hdd is different on my 3rd imac(1TB)
I read the thread you linked and i agree that it must be something related with the hdd

I see where this si coming from though.
I think whats happening is Apple is expanding so quickly that its harder for them to keynote all the developments within apple.
Soon iPhone is going to be even bigger, and Mac will keep moving, growing, but not as fast as the iPhone.
Maybe one day well see seperate keynotes for each product/market line.
Either way Apple is going strong and the potential for iPhone (and Apple gadgets) and Mac OS X to move forward are huge.
No complaints here.
I just wish theyd say somethin about the bloody mac mini

I'm learning about the Picker View and was pretty disappointed that the book didn't go beyond basic stuff. I went thru several other books and online as well as the built in Apple help.
Not one had an example of putting a pic inside the Picker.
The book was a single column, no example of multi column, or custom widths or loading from array.
I still don't know if you make a separate array or multi dementional array, do pics get loaded from url or into array 1st, is there a refresh method if you wish to change the values from another object (say a button the changes the value of a pic or text inside the picker)
Basically I need MUCH more detail, eight book and not one goes into good detail.
Is there any book that REALLY gets under the hood and opens things up?
Of all the programming help/docs/books I read, it's pretty hard to imagine there's not a better book than these.
Amazon's preview thing is pretty worthless, can't get into the meat of the book, the 'contents' doesn't tell you enuff.
Thanks, KarlJay.

Are you sure your computer isn't saying "Could not load MySpace, Reason: It's for 13 year old losers."?
:)
I've had several pages lock up both safari and ie (I only tried ie to see if it would hose a standard browser as well!) on my ibook. It's those crappy "profile editors" that people use to customize their sites. Firefox on my PC works fine but I think the ibook's browsers are so shocked by the heinous html butchery that they just can't go on.

Contacted apple support, as it is down for more than a day. They said they are working on it and expect it to fixed in an hour. Hard to believe a software that is essential for all their iOS hardware is down more than a day. (btw, thx for the link to oldapps, though I need the mac version, I like the fact some one is keeping the older versions).

OWC is making a Mac Pro PCI Express SSD aren't they? I haven't heard about it in what seems like a few months.
They are doing lots of things. They have been talking about the SSD firmware updater for OS X for ages now and it still does not exist. I guess the PCIe SSD requires relatively lots of work while the market for it is small. It may come some day.

I've made up my mind on the basic 13" pro. I was going to buy it on June 5th, but I don't really think I should do that now. If possible I would like to get the machine with Lion installed already. Should I wait for WWDC? Its 4 days long so I guess I could wait it out, but would they release it the day of announcement, or would it be in a couple of weeks afterwards? I know this is all speculation, but I appreciate you input
Thanks :)
I've heard that if you buy a laptop with snow leopard now you won't ever be able to upgrade to lion.
I think you should wait for whatever comes after Lion... nobody wants to have old technology!
That's what I thought, if waiting a week or two can save me a couple of bucks, then its worth the wait.
a week or two? If lion is released in a week or two anyone who bought a computer will get a free upgrade, no sense in waiting for nothing.
Thanks :)

I too have been considering OWC but surely their RAM is just a relabel of another brand?
Everyone's RAM is just a relabel unless you're buying direct from a manufacturer like Infineon. What you're getting with the relabel is a warranty and customer service for said warranty. OWC is totally worth it, IMO.

Not terribly much, unfortunately. It's a middling system, not particularly impressive in any spec, with a built-in power-hog CRT. The monitor-less Quadra 605 is a heck of a collectors item; but this is just a monstrosity.
It's not a horrible machine for the time, nor even particularly bad now; it's just fairly common as well as large.
I'd estimate it would be worth, at most, $50. Maybe at some point ridiculously far in the future, if you keep it in absolute pristine condition, fully functional (means replacing capacitors at some point,) it might be worth a lot; but we're talking a long ways off, when CRTs are seen as curious antiques, and 68k Macs are as rare as hens' teeth.

Unfortunately it isn't since they aren't using the same chipset.
You could, however, upgrade the 8-core base model to a 12-core or upgrade the quad core base model to a single 6-core.
