I sent out my letter to the prez (and the IV copy) last week. The ones who are lurking here right now without having done that yet: you have no excuse. At a minimum, it will cost you first class postage, a print out of the contents, a sign at the bottom and a trip to the mailbox. If you feel lazy about it, shame on you. If you think it will not make a difference, think again. Not only you are wrong, you have no idea by how much. If you open your mind a bit and send me a PM, I will send you personal anecdotes on how it made a difference for individuals and that too when it was not even part of a concerted effort like this.

You should confirm with your attorney as to if you will be able to maintain H1 status after entering on AP if you do not have a valid stamp...not sure about that......

When AP is approved, you get 3 copies. I went twice on intl trips and each time they took a copy. I am left with 1 copy of the AP.
Now I need to go on one last intl trip (I have applied for renewal). I just have one copy of AP with me.
How does it work? Will the officer just stamp the AP and make a copy?
The officer made a copy and returned the original to me the second time I travelled. But I had only 2 copies to begin with. Not sure how you have 3. They did'nt even ask me- I guess they are so used to it (I flew in to SFO)

What do you mean by AP and EAD delayed? Once you have applied for your 485 and all things considered OK, you should get your AP and EAD. If dates retrogress again, you will have to keep renewing your AP and EAD till you get your GC. How long it will take to get AP and EAD? Right now, I believe it will take a lot longer, maybe upto 6 months given the load of apps. they will receive.

R u on H1B or on EAD, If you are on EAD, can you pls. tell me what documents you sent to USCIS for AP renewal, The reason i am asking is because last year when i renewed my EAD and AP, at that time i was on H1 but now i am on EAD.

I think the shot turned out great Michael. I imagine you could use a similar technique as I have been doing with the infrared, with the filter off and the camera on a tripod using the autofocus to get focus where you want it then switch to manual focus and screw the filters on then take your picture. I'm also curious how much different shooting the same shot without the filters or possibly just one and setting the aperture at f/32 and using a slow shutter to try to achieve the same effect. Look forward to more experimentation.

If she has been out of USA during her 6 years of H-1B, she can use that period for her H1B extension. It can give her an extra breathing space.
Also, for 180 days, she can stay in USA but I am not sure if these 180 days is from the date she last time entered in USA or from the day her visa ends.
I suggest you to consult a good attorney. It is suggested to spend some time and money on attorney and help her stay out of trouble.

We all know that we are able to file 485 on July and we got EAD due to IV efforts. Which in turn helping us to get a 600$ rebate for the spouse (Some plan to spend the money).. I don't have the letter with me but the denial is based on a law pertaining to me only submitting a partial answer to their request. How true that is is up to debate as my cosponsor says no but really, it doesn't matter what we say when the USCIS say something different.
We will not be getting a lawyer, we cannot afford that right now but we will probably file for the motion to reopen my case. I have a somewhat good understanding of what I need to do but not sure how successful we will be. Hopefully, they will accept our fee waiver form becuase we probably won't be sending them money. We would still like to know if anyone has tried to have their case reopened and how long it took and how it went.

I don't think your mom should overstay the visa - not a good idea at all.
Try to see if she spent time outside the US when she was on H-1B. For example, she may have taken a few weeks off each year to visit her home country - you can recapture that time.
BUT, as kaiser mentioned, not sure how your grandfather applied for your mother in the first preference category. Double check that. As someone else mentioned, the dates in the family preference move very slowly.
