Great news to hear! And hopefully most people considering switching,won't read c/net reviews :D Their review on the new C2D Pro is a good laugh..a major con being that it doesn't have a media card reader,lol...

Was there much chatting in the line or were people keeping themselves to themselves?
It was in patches. Some people kept themselves to themselves, others chatted in their small groups of people they already knew. People kept coming by asking us what we were queuing for, none of them looked at me seriously when I told them we were waiting to get into the Apple Store! I chatted a bit with the people around me, was interesting seeing who was there to buy Leopard, who was there just to test it, who was there simply for the T-Shirts and who was there lost in the queue cuz all they wanted was to come in and look around and buy and iPod, knowing nothing about Leopard!!!
My friend was late getting there, so I met him inside the store when he finally got in.
Was some professional looking videoing going on outside of the queue, anyone know who it was??

Kimberly Clark fought, and lost, the same battle over 'kleenex' becoming a generic noun for facial tissue. Bayer lost it over 'asprin' as the name for sodium acetosalcylate. And there are numerous other examples. All were lost because the owners of the trade name did not vigorously defend their trade name. Apple is doing what it must. Will they suceed? No it won't convert the PC fanboys or the increasingly popular 'I can be offended quicker than you can' crowd but I really doubt those are the target audience. The ads are humorous and hit exactly the kind of audience from which 'switchers' come from - those dissatisfied with their PC experience.
Apple isn't trying to take over the entire computer market - way too many people you wouldn't want as customers in that crowd. Just getting the kind that do find the commercials humorous and 'on the mark' with the added controversy the commercials themselves spawn is probably more than enough. Look at this thread - if I'd were leaning towards Macs and ran into the PC sourpusses here I'd get one just to provoke them further. Humorless people need to be taunted and provoked at every opportunity - they will either grow or explode, both steps up.

The fact that congress cannot construct a budget is simply a failure of them to perform their duties. Part of the reason is that the motivation to avoid a shutdown isn't great enough, thus I propose a two-fold solution to motivate them a little
1) Congress persons do not get paid during the shutdown. Perhaps if they were to not get paid they would be more motivated.
2) In the event of a shutdown all members of congress immediately become ineligible to run for re-election for their current position and ineligible to run in any other federal election. Since a shutdown means they've failed, they shouldn't be allowed to continue.
That would be extra sweet. Wouldn't it require a constitutional amendment?

Ill explain what the link implied. The sarcastic joke that you posted is simply trite beyond belief, and as such I thought Id use similar methods of sarcasm to convey my thoughts on the matter. Now, the crux of my joke relies on the play of opposites (as your comment was anything but original) and meant to be informative. mac, more than ever before. Apple is getting them
young, and that will pay off in the long run. I got
my first Mac when I started college and now that
I finished, I got a new one. The new laptops have

Apple, mainly. They are extremely stubborn about what hardware their software runs on.
Or letting them have custom systems or having the use dells / hp / who ever with mac os x?
OS X officially does not run on non-Apple hardware.
The Government, I mean serious government, with big purchasing power gets great deals on Mac's better than you think and competitive to the high end systems you might get from Dell etc

Not to mention by buying a Windows machine they don't have to provide additional tech support, buy any new software, or integrate it into existing networks. Plus Dell/Windows machine makers already have a well-established relationship with the military that goes back decades.

Isn't that the IP of Quadra840? I already crippled him by shutting down his power once in a while. He was getting to close. And about those Stinkers, My normal production output is at 300, but with all these Stinkers I'm lucky if my average is 200 a day. We should all complain by Stanford, maybe we can do something about it and get a bit more gromacs.

Have you tried an Eye-Fi memory card? I picked one up recently and it's made offloading photos from the camera SO much easier.

IMHO, adding a physical keyboard will most likely add thickness to the iPhone device & that goes against what Apple are doing. I could be wrong but it seems that one of Apple's main design focus has been to get thinner & thinner with each new revision of the product line. Therefore, I think that Apple will "unfortunately" not be adding a physical keyboard to the iPhone design anytime in the near future. :o
Then they need to add the ability to use a bluetooth external keyboard. It might be cludgy but it could open a whole new type of accessory. Clip-on keyboards. How about a case with a flip top that has a keyboard in it...

It seems these ads are almost a carbon copy of US versions which are translated into Japanese. In one of the ads, the PC guys says he uses clock with PC while the Mac guy says he likes using iLife and all. Have you noticed the PC guy was using the fuggly looking belt case for iPod?
On the second ad, the Mac and PC guys were talking about why people call Macintosh computers Mac. The PC guy is jealous that Mac sounds like a friend and he wants to get a nick name rather than a mundane name PC. So, a Mac guy said PCs are used for work and suggested the PC guy's nick name would be "Work." The PC guys digged that nick name.
The virus commercial is almost identical with the US version.

Even though I doubt you actually want to see anything here (http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/obameter/rulings/promise-kept/) is a list of some things he promised to do and actually did. As far as politicians go Obama has been pretty good at keeping promises, I don't agree with him on everything but some of his problems with doing things come from the republicans stopping him and him having too much of a desire to compromise.
I have seen that list and it is a list of around 500 things. There are only about 140 things here. Most of them are encouragements which means nothing. Number 279, 284, 315 who the hell cares. Number 460, I could ask them to do that. Number 502, get his daughters a puppy, who gives a flying ****. A lot of this list is horse crap that doesn't matter.
