    Scott Washburn: New Immigration Bill Not Going to Fix What Ails Arizona (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/scott-washburn/new-immigration-bill-not_b_544944.html)

    Arizona is at ground zero of our broken immigration system.
    People are frustrated and want action.

    Action feels good. We see a problem and we want to fix it. We write and pass laws that seem like they'll do the trick: punish people who break our laws; deport people who don't belong here. Except sometimes what looks good and feels good, isn't always good. We end up with reactionary laws that waste precious resources and do nothing to address the source of the problem.

    If signed into law, the bill would shift the burden of enforcing immigration laws onto the shoulders of cash-strapped local police departments who cannot afford unfunded enforcement-only mandates. It would exacerbate community tensions and undermine community policing and public safety by making immigrants afraid to cooperate in police investigations.

    Most tragic of all, the state would be forced to waste millions to defend itself against the civil rights lawsuits that will rightfully follow. Similar ill-advised anti-immigrant laws in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Texas have been struck down by the courts at great expense to taxpayers. With a record budget deficit, does Arizona really need to spend another dime on enforcement strategies that will do nothing to solve our immigration crisis?

    Yeah, at work, but not actually dong much. Eating a mint Aero and doodling with Photoshop. Eh, it's Friday afternoon, what else am I supposed to do? :)

    Ooo, not sure if I should say who I voted for... Oh alright then. I voted for yours.

    Close thing between you and Eilsoe, I have to admit. Almost didn't vote because I couldn't decide between them. But I went for yours, it showed more of the actual castle, and had that nice tudor bit in it too.

    Quebec is a bit more conservative than Ontario (mostly coz of Catholic influences). Montreal is a fine place and one would be able to get along without knowing too much French (anywhere else in QC it's a different story). If you have long term plans for Canada, it's a good thing to know French.. as bi-lingual folks are given preference is many jobs (even outside QC). Montreal has an image of not being friendly to non french speaking folks - hence many who migrate to Canada end up in Toronto. So that may be a competitive advantage for someone moving to Montreal!

    I noticed it after I made payment via credit card.....so it was too late to make any corrections.

    But I am yet to send the supporting documents to USCIS to adjudicate this application.

    What should I do:
    1) Send letter, explaining the correct DOB, while sending all other documents
    OR
    2) Wait for RFE
    OR
    3) Revoke this and file another

    If you are a software engineer and street smart then you dont need PMP to continue growing in your field. I am a software engineer and my understanding is as follows. Currently most of us are working under a manager who is either not good at management or not having the required level of technical skills to understand the project complexities for doing proper project management. As the salaries in the software field are good most of the people moved to software field irrespective of what their core skills are. So, people who are good at project management and working as software engineers should do PMP to rejuvenate their skills and bring some good project managers to the software industry.

    Even if you are not good at project management, you should do PMP to understand the environment you are working. That is especially to keep yourself in the shoes of your manager. The advantage of doing that is, if your manager is blaming you for his mistakes, you will know what to talk with your manager and avoid yourself burning out because of your manager mistakes. This is something that is very common in the software industry. It doesnt matter where you are and what you are doing, it is always helpful to know role of a project manager to keep yourself in a better position.

    Also PMP is not just $500 thing. I can say you should be ready to spend at least $700 and allocate lot of time (It takes lot of time if you are parallel working) to understand PMBOK and its related material.

    Also to keep your certification active, you should get 60 PDU every 3years, but this is not a big deal.

    To keep yourself motivated till you get the certification, keep this in mind. Most of the best paid people are the best managers you cannot make that kind of money unless you start you journey towards that direction.

    PMP can be considered as one of the subjects (in detail) in MBA (like a subset of MBA), and should not be compared with MBA, as MBA will provide you with more skills in more directions in handling business.

    Dear plassey,

    Whatever IV is doing fine, nobody here denies that. But here are few points which I think eveybody else is trying to convey, which somehow you don't understand:

    1. This site has an open forum where not only active members of IV, but other people (cowerds, that is what you think, you out-spoken fellow) also seek advice, share their experiences and hence help each other. And mind you, because of these all people, IV and this site also get so much popular.

    2. The other point is WHY YOU PUSH SO MUCH FOR HELP. I think everybody understands the efforts of IV, but let the person decide himself/herself whether he/she wants to give money, go to DC ralley or not. Help is not demanded.

    3. Please mind your language. I don't know why you have so much of anger and you use abusive, disturbing language for others. Its very easy to say a F* word, but very difficult to sort out others problems in decent and graceful manner. I don't think any group like IV (CARE, CRY and hundreds of NGOs in India) will push people like you do.

    4. And people like you are shame for a group like IV (please ask pappu too to confirm) who spread negativity like you did in this thread.

    You need some help to suppress your anger. Please do that Dear plassy...

    Cry baby!
    1. If you are interested in knowing about IV very front page provide you ample of information
    2. Understood there is only one bread earner, well you do pay 1000s of $ to fill stupid forms to lawyers. A fraction of that amount will produce bigger bang here at IV.
    3. Some people here in IV are out of the job but still continuing on their mission. Unfortunately, cowards like you will also be benefited by their efforts.
    4. If you really wanted to help, u could have started by joining the state chapter.

    THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE GOOD FOR NOTHING, GO BACK TO YOUR HOLES. AND DON'T SHOW YOUR FACE HERE AGAIN.

    Much thanks for digesting all of this data and making sense of it all. I had no idea the quarterly spillover issue was making things worse in many cases.

    Did you guys get a chance to look at data for Mexico by any chance? Since there is only a backlog for EB3 can one assume that things will improve in the next 2 years or will legislative relief be required for Mexico as well?

    Again, outstanding job and thanks for helping us understand. How can I help you convince CIS tom make your recommendations happen?

    Giving speedy Green Cards to July Visa bulletin cases will ease the Housing Crisis in US.

    Above statement implies, housing crisis is because of not issuing green cards.

    BTW, I don't have english blood in me ;););)

    your implication is wrong ..you can imply anything from a statement.
    the reason I support the above initiative is because it is the most cost effective approach. immigration will/does help housing since americans already have houses and they have fewer or no kids. so immigrants constitute a sizeable chunk. a person I had met once told me - as long as you make money for yr bosses and managers they will do a lot for you (we were talking about filing for GC's) - with the same approach if you include builders and car dealers - you could get them to support IV. but my view is since our community is so divided and selfish ..nothing will ever happen because of us. whatever good happens will be because of USCIS mistakes or else we will get GC's after the long wait

    Hi All,

    Sorry to bring this thread back.

    See, what IV few members have written. I found them again in user control panel along with RED dots. I stopped caring about RED dots.

    But, there are some comments that really hurts.
    These are the comments few IV members wrote about my posting while giving a RED dot. Though I stopped caring about RED/Green's

    One must behave like a civilized person. We came here with atleast Bachelors Degree. Some of them with Master Degree / PhD's. Majority of us are educated and know how to behave with people.

    Do you know , how it hurts some one?. Are they doing in Green Card frustration? or Are they doing it wanted?.

    Guys, all those who responded previously to this thread and and backed up fellow IV members, what do you say now?.

    Good Bye for ever guys?.
    don't support such kind of behaviour.But the problem is there is nothing anyone can do about it. Hope you understand the limitations of the admins.

    To IV members who are within driving distance of DC and are not committing to attending the rally, please have a look at this poll and see that there are people flying thousands of miles to attend this rally all the way west from California.

    Please take a day off and attend the DC rally. There are many major world issues and US issues at the forefront of discussions in Washington. We have one tiny slot to make our voices heard. This is our chance. If you are taking one day off, it is only one day. Work extra hours on the other four working days in the week. Act now, take this one important day off and join the rally in DC.

    Join us on September 18th in Washington DC.

    CA Members voting NO in this Poll, we are going to CALL, EMAIL, PM you to change your mind.

    CA Members voting YES, you are all superstars! Please remember to edit your profiles and select "YES" - I am attending the DC Rally. This will enable you to receive the latest updates on the rally from IV Core.

    The more the evil called 'Labor Subsitution' is alive, the more grief we are gonna get. Especially EB-3's. BEC's are chruning out labors, I'm sure 50-60 % of the benificiaries have moved on. But there approved Labors are being sold openly. I'm guessing there are atleast 30-40K EB3 India in 2001-2003. You can Imagine How any years it'll take for the dates to cross 2003 Dec. My calc is

    roughly

    3000 EB3 numbers available every year.
    statistics says average 2.5 visas are used by each benificiary family. Conidering that if Congress doesn't change anything(Doesn't release any new Green Card numbers and make not change whatsoever) I am guessing it should take 25-30 years for date to become current for an EB3 guy with PD Jan'2004

    I bet there are tons of fine print to be qualified as "Illegal", I keep hearing " people who CAME (entered) ILLEGALLY before jan 2007..." , so " legal to ILLEGAL conversion " will not qualify i think.

    What is important for you now that you want to become illegal ?
    -> To win
    -> Self respect
    -> Financial achievement
    -> Career achievement
    -> Family support
