Oh Fart!!
I forgot that I only have 256Mb RAM so I can't load it up. The other Dimm flipped out and panicked.
So this could be the longest 10.5 instal ever :D
10.5 should still run, and even run 1-2 apps at a time. (I got 10.5 successfully, if incredibly slowly, running on a 700Mhz eMac G4 with just 128MB RAM, so its definitely possible).

On my Macbook desktop:
On the left
"Richard Avedon - Lew Alcindor, basketball player, New York" (Had to take the very top of due to the dark part going over the menu bar and the bottom is slightly off too)
On the right

We'll take them, at $10M per head (negotiable).
Our Inuit brothers, up in Nunavut, will look after them, and they can put the money to good use.

Yes ppl still use Notes.
> for the price its cheaper than MS Exchange. And isnt limited to 50K accounts (for email that is. Without additions/packs).
Sametime 7.5 just went GOLD+ for the past few weeks. Its interface looks pretty good and the ability to keep the history in a chat for INDIVIDUAL ppl that participated - for a limited time pre set by the user, or indefinately. But its STILL buggy, crashing on end on multiple machines (WinXP SP2) without a cause; that we can figure out.
BTW; I work at IBM here in Toronto for their client BNSF.
This should be interesting to see how Apple rolls with this announcement.

I guess nobody here plays music modules (IT/MOD/S3M/XM/etc. formats). For this purpose, I find CocoModX (http://cocomod.stalkingwolf.net/) essential.
For IRC, I use Conversation (http://homepage.mac.com/philrobin/conversation/) and Colloquy (http://colloquy.info/).
For GMail reply notifications, I use GMailStatus (http://homepage.mac.com/carsten.guenther/GmailStatus/).
For small graphics design (for games that use tiles), Pixen (http://www.opensword.org/Pixen/) and Reptile (http://www.opensword.org/Reptile/) are my best friends.
All of these applications are freeware.

My family has three iPhones and an Apple TV, all on the same iTunes account. Do we count as one user? I'd like to see how these numbers are calculated.

Good point... I hadn't considered the battery time. By this time next year, the memory chips will definitely be a lot cheaper so 2G (or more) will be easily do-able in something as small as the Shuffle for a decent price. Hopefully the battery life can be improved as well. Not much use being able to store 36 hours of music and not being able to listen to it.
Oh, great, now we've got someone referring to '2G' as 2 gigabytes. The confusion is just going to grow!!!

I got some of the stuff in these pictures.
My mum came over to visit me in Finland and she bought me the corner light (it cycles through colours) She also bought me the cushions on the sofa.
I got the curtains from Ikea yesterday along with the plant, plus I also got the LED dioders behind the monitors.
All in all a nice lot of stuff to make my living room more of a warm place to be.
I now just have to get my artwork on the wall, next week I will get some frames in the sales.

I just realised that I do not have the version 4.1 update to Final Cut Express 4. According to Apple, I can download the update via the software update on my mac. but I have tried every time and every way but final cut doesn't come up in the updates. can anyone suggest a way to get his update please as it's the best way to work with my HD footage?

That means that the browser cannot find a picture where the website says there should be one. It's like a "file not found" indicator.
It's the fault of the website, not your computer.

Nope, not too squeamish just going by the thread title. It's torture, there you happy?
No, I'm not, because I want it to stop. But at least you are speaking in plain english now.
Again, we are not europe. So europe doesn't torture and where has that gotten them? They still get attacked by terrorists, even sweden, go figure. Moral superiority or not, safety of our nation and other western nations is more important. If torture is needed to get that information and save thousands of lives, then we should do it.
This has nothing to do with Europe vs the US. Europe doesn't have any bearing on whether Americans feel torture is an acceptable activity. I don't think we need to torture people in order to combat terrorism. Torture is wrong, it damages our credibility and brutalizes us as a society. I want no part in it, and bin Laden's carcass is a very poor reward for the hundreds of thousands of people who have died during this quest to find him. After 9/11, the US received genuine sympathy from all over the world. We've squandered that goodwill and then some over the last decade.
Someone has to do the dirty work, and it's always us. But that's ok, that's how it's always been and it's why we're such a proud nation.
American exceptionalism at its worst. As long as you think you're better than everyone else, you'll be blind to reality and it will cost us in the end.

Why not? The USA for example has only 4 million miles of roads. A car with driver + passenger + some decent equipment should be able to map say 10 miles per hour, at a cost of $50 per hour. 200 cars for a year, that's 20 million dollars. And then you have a database that you can sell, and that you can use everywhere. Then write an iPhone app that lets users make corrections, lets businesses add their locations etc. and you are ready.
You could just buy a TomTom for $150 and have all that, already.
Apple should just roll their own.
They have the power, the talent, the size, and certainly the scale, to go their own way with an excellent chance of success.
The job posting begs to differ.

Definitely disappointing. Not so much in what was presented, but in what was left out.
iPhone and Apple TV were about what I expected. Not interested in either of them as they stand, though a few tweaks to Apple TV could have had me feverishly ordering one today. Too bad. I'd love the internet capability of the iPhone while on the go, but definitely not at that price + contract. And I don't need the phone part, I still don't even own a cell phone... :D
iPhone took up way too much of the keynote. Yeah it's cool, it has a ton of features. I get it. But boy, is Steve in love with that thing or what? :p

My first mac had 1.2 GB Hard drive. The Power Mac 7500
That's a huge amount of storage. For my Mac Plus, I purchased a 20 MB SuperMac DataFrame external hard drive. Very cheap, too. It only cost me about $600. It took almost a year to fill it with basically games, clip art and Illustrator files.
