From what I understand, high impedance headphones came about in old studios. The main advantage is that you can run many headphones in parallel (on tube amps). I guess it would all come down to power transfer, the amp acts as a load in itself in a way, and if the headphone impedance is really low, you won't get a good signal as most of the power will be dissipated in the amp.
But most modern D/A end with an opamp, or at least I'm guessing the one in the macs do. It's certainly not tube. As much as opamps probably don't have the sound quality of tube, their output impedance is very low. So there shouldn't be a power transfer problem. So I'm guessing that noise shouldn't be a big problem. Sure the voltage in the high impedance will be higher, thus there should be a bit less noise, but really, that's nothing compared to having a cheap D/A stuck inside a computer. Also there shouldn't be a problem with the frequency response.
From what I understand, tube amps have a higher output impedance, so they can have a hard time with certain low impedance headphones.
Apparently, there's could be a difference in sound as there's a bigger magnetic field, so possibly better control over the diaphragm. But I somehow doubt that high impedance headphones will make a macbook pro sound magically good.
I could be totally be off, I never came across high impedance headphones. Kind of a cool thing to think about.

If you're a fan of the old command and conquer series, they released Red Alert. It's pretty cool to play on a touch device. Graphics are good too. Gameplay is not as crisp as the original so I'm hoping for a new C&C to come out. It's still worth the $4.99.
Edit:
Opps N/M this is a Cydia thread :o my iPad isn't even JB.

Things are running well of late. Now averaging around 300ppd. I have 2 instances of Folding running on the Xeon 3.6, but the IT guy decided he was only going to let me use one processor on the dualie...because he took the other one to Fold for Team MR.
He's got the other processor, a Xeon box on his desk at work, an eMac at work, plus his laptop and two PIII servers at home. He is ke3gp, and he is climbing up the ranks quickly, averaging over 500ppd since he signed on last week.

Ah, Ok. It's a .mov file. That sounds suspiciously Mac friendly. I presume .avi might be better?
No, .mov is just Quicktime's standard file format/extension. The extension won't be the problem, especially since you've already confirmed that the file is being read by playing sound.
The problem will be the video codec you've used to compress the video, do you know what you've used? If you don't, open the file in Quicktime and hit Command-I, in the new window find the format. Then post that here.
Most likely the PC user (I presume you aren't the one doing the testing since you don't know what the error message says) simply is using an old version of Quicktime and needs to upgrade.
This would have been easier to diagnose had we had a link to the Quicktime file.
Is this for the Trifle video? If so I think your tester just needs to upgrade to at least version 6 (the latest version for Windows, not including the Public Preview of 7).

If you want to make an app with html5 and then compile it down to a native iOS app you can use http://www.phonegap.com/ . I'm currently using it to develop an app and have a prototype using it on my iPad. Works pretty well so far.

1700 points per WU!!! That's more then my weekly production! And I have two C2D and a G5 folding. Not 24/7, but still... It has taken me 5 years to get to the 170.000 points and over 2000 WU to achieve that. That makes you think, 2000 WU X 1700 points = 3.400.000 points! That's about 20 times as high. Those PS3 are seriously kicking some @#$*!!
There were only two or three simulations worth 1700 points and they're not PS3 WUs. A C2D can handle one of the big mothers in a little over a day. The PS3 is currenlty chomping on some ~300 pt WUs that take between 6-8 hours to wrap up.

On the front page, I had a spinning beachball for a few minutes and could not exit. Doing the software update which included Safari and Java seemed to solve this problem, but I'm not sure if that was the cause.

Thanks for the tips guys!
It seems that USB2.0 isn't as much a priority as I'd once thought, as it seems my camera that they've been using only supports USB1.1
Since these two configurations seem to fit their needs perfectly I'm going for:
g3 700mhz ibook
384 ram
40gb hd
combo
14in screen
airport
or
REV A iBook G4...
Again, Thanks! :)

They probably would have just picked up and left after that five year reprieve. That has happened multiple times where I live - the factories come for tenish years, their tax exemption ends, and they leave. Then the massive local unemployment starts again
not surprised in the least. I think states should put other requirements on if they leave after there tax exemption with in X number of years they are required to pay all taxes during the exemption as well basically lose tax exempt status.
Apparently, a coalition of state retailers weighed in and convinced the legislature that not having to collect taxes would give Amazon an unfair sales advantage.
Honestly I am glad seeing more and more states stand up to like this. SC is just another state and Amazon is going to quickly run out places to go and more or less be forced to play hard ball. If anything I believe a national law should be passed.

I have a Dell laptop now with a 30gb drive and have barely 5gb filled. I don't think having a 40gb in my iBook will be a big problem.
An external drive would be nice because I would like to share files between computers.

Not sure why you didn't just move along instead of posting a snide comment. I read the product review and saw a variety of answers. I came here to confirm them
I read that you have to go to sound in system preferences and change the output to tv once you hook the cord up. Can you confirm that works?
Yes this'll work. I don't know why dqpassat is having problems though as the cpu speed has nothing to do with this.

Unless you've got admin rights on the server - which would let you muck around with the server's smb.conf file (I'm assuming this is a Linux or OS X box running Samba) - there's not a lot you can do.
If this is your personal machine - I don't think you can do much with Apple's GUI interface for this, but if you're fairly brave you can always muck around with smb.conf after thoroughly reading the documentation at samba.org. :D

I'm curious about this question too... I have the same situation but I have 8gb of RAM... what's better to have 8gb at 1067 or 4gb at 1333?
...if your usage needs to have more than the 4Gb of RAM avail then its better to have 8Gb at the slightly lower bandwidth then paging to your HDD with 4Gb of RAM at a slightly higher bandwidth...

i have to ask... what is with the drop shadow? huge, obvious drop shadows are NOT good unless you are animating 3d objects or doing motion graphics... the big drop shadow is running rampant around the web attacking sites left and right... i say we start here and rise against the drop shadow.
beyond that, like other users said, your tech side is fine. as for visuals, others have pointed out the color issues.
as a general rule, to see what other designers are doing, check out design portals such as news today, design is kinky or k10k. there are tons out there and they show the best of the best digital artists.

I am not sure if this is the right section.
I like giving away free information based on my experiences. I wish more people did it so I wouldn't have to buy laptop parts from bad suppliers.
I know people like t fix things themselves. What I would like to do here is have a list of good suppliers for certain parts where the end user can buy parts for their Macbook one at a time, and a list of ones to avoid, with the reasons why. My experiences will be devoid of bias, personal remarks, and stick to places where I have had the unfortunate experience of doing repeat business.
I will update this list over time, and I encourage others to chime in. there are many suppliers I have used not listed here since I don't have all the names and information ready off hand.
I am only listing suppliers of use to people looking to buy one part, not places that specialize in quantities of 50+, as that is useless to joe-blow looking to fix his out of warranty laptop.
The hall of fame:
sunvalleytek/sunvalleyus/smartlaptopparts(on ebay)
They have occasionally sent out the incorrect screen, when they did, they paid for return shipping. They offer amazing prices, and a great RMA process
screenaid(on ebay)
see sunvalleyus. They are also great for local pickup in NYC. Unlike sunvalleyus, they do not ship the model they give you in the title. They ship a samsung or something else. For the 13.3" macbook, they do not ship the regular model samsung apple uses. It looks the same to me, but the brightness/dim buttons` on the keyboard will not work unless you have some drivers/a newer OSX installed.
izashop (on ebay)
small things like top cases, bezels, etc. fast shipping, best prices, good parts.
screencountry
Their prices fluctuate greatly, which is unfortunate. However, they have a plethora of LCDs to select from, the occasional quantity discount, great shipping rates, and decent support.
The hall of SHAME:
blisscomputers/expresslcdscreens/browngranite
they claim to use "compatible" parts. However, what they send out is often ****. no model, no name junk with
- bars down the left side of the LCD
- poor fit
- washed out colors
I have, and others have, been roped into buying from them on numerous occasion. I am hoping someone I heard from recently who went through the experience I did will chime in here. Their parts are trash. They are notorious for the 15.4" LED LCDs that go for $177.
It is fine to sell alternative compatible models, but they truly stretch the definition of compatible. screencountry does this with a few LCDs, but they ship out ones where there is no visible difference, of established brand names and well known models.
ultradrives(ebay)
Imagine you buy part A. The eBay ad claims 13 available and a day later you'll receive an email with "GREAT NEWS!" claiming he's totally out of them, but that he can upgrade you to part B. You say sure, then he asks for more money. But you agreed to the price for part A. It's classic bait & switch, while being careless on eBay I made the mistake of using him a few times.
