my answer ... show that we (legal immigrants) are unable to buy a house because of GC delays ..we can have something as simple as sitting in our homes, calling the local realtors , show interest in buying a house (or another house if you are already a home owner) ..then back off after few days saying that GC delay is preventing you from going ahead. who knows we may soon have lawrence yun lobbying for faster immi !!
look at plus side ..at the very least ..u will be able to walk around with a pretty realtor !!

Quixtar is not bad but the people running sub-businesses (such as BWW etc) by pushing tapes and books on you make it HELL
Stay Away unless you are willing to lose a lot to gain a few!!

Yeah, I guess our community (legal immigrants) is satisfied with the magic number 3,200. Be is montly contribution ($3.2K), or yearly visa availablity (EB2I).

All things being equal, there is no reason for him to get any special treatment at all -- he is no diplomat or a guest of this country. If there was something wrong with his luggage and/or profile that made the CBP flag him and question him, I don't see anything wrong with that. That said. We cant stop the outsourcing and dumping. Today is biilions from India and china and tomorrow rest of billions from rest of world (like Africa and rest).
If you dont have any proper counter argument, dont post. Period, dont stoop to personal attack.(race,caste,place and commutiy and alma mater).

He says his living standard has gone down because of L1s and H1bs and herds people coming from india, Dude you need to understand that this recession has not been caused by H1b and L1s or other IT workers coming to US, its because of the real estate boom and foolishness of american people who believed that real estate prices will keep on rising to INFINITY.. i don't have to explain how this recession started i hope majority of the people knows about it.. so stop blaming IT workforce for your living standard.. another example.. just seen what happened to GM and chrysler.. they failed to understand the market for small cars and fuel efficient cars.. instead they produced gas guzzlers like hummers.. so do you think they have the brightest minds. We are in this deep shit because of the situations created by americans for themselves and now they want to blame it on legal immigrants for there wrong decisions..
I believe in destiny or lucky whatever they call it.. its not always that brightest get their GC. I wished i was that bright and intelligent person to predict July 07 fiasco but unfortunately i quit my company in Mar 07.. and i know some people who used subsititued labor in July 07 have their EADs with them. Don't think just by getting a GC or citizenship will certify that your the brightest of all still waiting in the GC queue. I am not sure how many people believe in luck... but i do. I don't matter how bright you are and how hard you work you need some luck also..

There may or may not be constitution grounds to challenge the law, I've thought about this too, however from a pragmatic point of view....
1) The money needed to pay the lawyers would likely be more than for lobbying. Importantly money for legal costs is best to be on hand -- i.e. good cash flow, otherwise you risk missing legal deadlines. It would mean diverting money from lobbying. If we were flush with cash e.g. every member paid just $100 per year this would work.
2) Even among members of congress that are behind us, several have reservations about removing country cap (although they are willing to raise it).
3) EB3 ROW is retrogressed anyway. India EB3 is about May 2001, and ROW EB3 Oct 2002. The effect of only removing country quota would be put EB3 generally at about Oct 2001.
The way to move forward for all is to increase total through put, e.g. raise caps, remove dependents from caps, recapture unused quota, tie caps to multiple of H1B quota. For ROW it would move steadily forward, and India move and then would jump forward every 4th quarter with massive spill over from ROW.
As I said I'm not against the idea in principle, just being pragmatic.

Guys...can somebody tell me why they are not counting on EB1 & EB2 row numbers for the last quarter of 2009? Historically, these were the numbers which were transferred to oversubscribed countries, because of which priority dates well pushed way ahead. What's different this time? Even if USCIS works with tremendous efficiency, they cant really use those numbers before the quarter starts.

The logic is that you are 'putting down roots' by buying a house. If all it takes is proof of closing a mortgage, one could always turn around and sell the house. somethng like that would undermine the credibility of IV in the medium/long run.
I had initially advocated treating first time home buying as the same as marriage to an American citizen. In my opinion, that is a short,sweet,simple and sensible approach to follow that will also resonate/stick in lawmakers minds (rather than a long,rambling letter, no offense meant to the writers, it was quite well put together).

In addition to the aspirational 180-day deadline in 8 U.S.C. � 1571(b), the 8 C.F.R. � 103.2(b)(18) sets forth a detailed timetable for “withholding adjudication of a visa petition or other application if . . . an investigation has been undertaken involving a matter relating to eligibility or the exercise of discretion . . . .”
I doubt these regulations were followed in thousands of delayed I-485s.
