Did anyone notice the change in the wording on I-485 adjustment of status? It used to say that it takes between 850 and 900 days to process this type of request. Now it just says that the will notify you when a decision has been made. This change was just made in the last week or two. Curious.

By all standards, you should have the receipt number by now. Call USCIS customer service and follow the menu, have lot of patience and all the info with u when u call them up.

I have an infopass appointment for tomorrow. Are the infopass officers qualified to review the file and process it right away?
Nope infopass officers are not at all helpful. I found out that many are just
"half-trained" customer service reps who have access to whatever online
system USCIS uses. They can tell you if your background checks were cleared,
what your priority date is (if you have multiple I-140s) and if every thing
has been bundled together in your "A-file" or not.
I had a horrible infopass where the "officer" didnt even know what a I-140 was.
Try sending a clear letter to the ombudsman right away. Be very clear an give copies
of everything you have I-485 receipts, your PD, country of chargeability etc etc.
I did send a letter to the ombudsman in mid dec got a usual we have opened a
request with USCIS and you will get answer in 45 days 2 weeks ago. Last week
got a phone call - yes a phone call - from them last week saying they got a email from USCIS saying my case is being fowarded for adjudication and you will get a result within 30 days.

I have written the ombudsman with an update after their initial inquiry and two of my state senators regarding this. I am confident we sent everything requested in the RFE but it's my word against theirs since we have sent it a total of three times; in the original application, then for two RFE's. Obviously, they are not very competent or they are not telling us what document they really need becuase they keep asking for tax docs.
I only have until May 12 to make a decision because they sent the letter of denial out so late compared to when they dated the denial. By the time the ombudsman gets back to me, my window of opportunity to file a motion will be gone.
It's so frustrating to deal with these people!

There is a hospital in Brooklyn New York where one of my friend was given H1-B and he is doing his residency from there. I will let you know.
Usually there is shortage of medical professional in PA especially OBG, Ortho etc, due to high mal practice insurance, so they all looking for interns and willing to do H1b and GC

by the way, I forgot to mention that I was in India when my GC was adjudicated on Oct 22.
At the immigration POE, I told the officer that my GC was granted while I was away. They took me to a room, I waited for 10 minutes, they checked on their system and later told me that I'm good to enter on GC. I looked at my passport where they had canceled my H1 visa and stamped LPR on the immigration stamp which stands for Legal Permanent Resident.
So, no probs returning to the U.S. I even took the liberty to stand in the GC/ citizen Q at the airport :D

AILA as usual worked behind the scenes to try and push USCIS to reverse course while it's sister organization AILF quickly assembled a large number of plaintiffs for a major class action law suit. With the threat of a lawsuit of a massive lawsuit, USCIS felt the heat needed to motivate them and the fact that the suit was about to be filed surely contributed to USCIS' quick reversal of course. AILF is playing an increasingly vital role in the pro-immigration community giving us the ability to stand up for immigrants in the courts - often the only place many problems can be resolved.
Finally, a new voice - Immigration Voice - emerged to do what has never been effectively done in the past - organize the grassroots employment immigrant community. IV's Flower Campaign and its San Jose protest were firsts and garnered the attention of the nation's media and managed to humanize what for many was a dry technical issue. IV was also extremely effective at conveying news to its members and to the entire pro-immigration community (including this lawyer) and know IV will now be a critical part of future advocacy efforts. I'm looking forward to seeing the organization grow in size and influence.

Unless one were being paid a EB2 salary back then but employer filed you in EB3.
this is a hot topic right now..!!
many of us who filed our labor right in the age-old days, atleast me,had no idea of EB2/3 category and it will affect our life so drastically. The paralegal/attnys just filed it(at that point of time just filing the LC was crucial..)
anyway,for retaining the old EB3 PD for the later EB2 date..should the salaries match..?? obviuosly, they wouldnt...?? then how will this be doable..
In no way,this situation can be treated as a substituted labor...
So may I take it from this thread, bottom line that we cant do it..

Believe me , at least 80% of this so called enterpreneurs will end up like present H1/desi employers/blood sucking companies
Of course 20% will be real good with clean intentions.
I bet...As i saw so many people in the same manner.
My close friends got GC and now sucking people with H1s , after just registering LLC with state secretary by paying 100$ reg fees and filing few H1s with INS
Believe me , at least 80% of this so called enterpreneurs will end up like present H1/desi employers/blood sucking companies
Of course 20% will be real good with clean intentions.
