We need to call for unity ask people to come out and support this initiative.
We got to do somthing. Enough is enough. Think of all high skilled workers not going to work for a day what kind of impact that will have? What kind of awareness that will create? I am ready to give up one day worth of pay for this. Anyone else?
Efforts have to be collective. Try to get supporrt from coworkers, friends - ask them for a honest opinion and see what they have to say

Did you ask pappu? man, you missed it. when you come next time make sure you'll take your GC with you. yesterday i came to DC to get my GC but forgot FP appointment today and showed up one hour 30 mins late.

Case received at Texas Service Center - july 2nd 2007. (monday of the big chaos)...had mailed the case on Sat(before chaotic monday) thru DHL overnight
Case transfered to NBC - Dec 2nd 2007 (me & spouse)
Case status changed to interview - Dec 4th 2007 (me & spouse)
Preliminary process complete USPS mail - Dec 4th 2007 (me & spouse)
Case pending at the USCIS office transferred to email - 02/12/2009 (me & spouse)
RFE - 02/13/2009 (me & spouse)
Soft LUD - 02/17/2009 <------ (me & spouse) (here is where i think the RFE notices are being printed today and will be mailed - we should probably get them by this Friday 2/20)
assumption 1 - Being that both me & spouse received RFE, i am thinking it mostly is either health records, finger prints, photo graphs, or signatures (we had g-28 to let our attorney sign on behalf of us and they (uscis) might need original signatures)
assumption 2 - Worst of all because the status changed to RFE on 2/13 and we might not get the notices till (02/20) we lose a whole week just waiting on the notices and we will have mere 3 weeks to respond back
likely fact - for whatever reason we are very few folks who are in this boat with same pattern and have to stick together to see where we will end with this

In general a person who is in the US should have a valid and unexpired passport at all times. In addition, there is a whole loooooong list of documents that you attach to the I485- your attorney should advise you on this. The most important once for employment based immigration are documents showing legal status up until the I485 application and current offer letter from your company. There are many many more documents you need to provide...search the net for the necessary documents...

India rejected both Boeing and Lockheed Martin's proposal of fighters . I am not debating the reasons or the merits of this decision if this was right or wrong . I am just discussing the potential repercussions this has had so far and might have .
'Exclusion of US firms from IAF jet deal a setback for ties' (http://www.indianexpress.com/news/exclusion-of-us-firms-from-iaf-jet-deal-a-setback.../783401/)
1) The issue is so serious that Tim Roemer , US Ambassador to India submitted his resignation immediately since he was on the hook for making this deal work .This shows the measure of disappointment they had.
2) India was seeking US assurances in security a Permanent Security council seat , which looks far fetched now .
4) Pentagon , Whitehouse and the DoD very upset that deal fell through . This sentiment will certainly percolate to the USCIS and the State department and might embolden Anti Immigration senators whose measures will get more support in the house and senate.
5) Prosecution of companies entangled in cases like Infosys might find more support and favor with the Govt.
Question is how/if there will be a backlash against India / Indian's get back at us at least in the short term .Increased scrutiny and visa denials , PoE Harassment , GC audits etc.
Will the US take a Tit-for-Tat reaction on this issue is what remains to be seen.

According to the reports, India went with the technical evaluation where as US in the name of transparency wanted a political decision. There is also end-user agreement US wanted India to sign, which allows US to come and check the planes whenever and wherever it wanted to... so blaming India in this is not right... There is no freedom and especially education in India. in US even if you are a 60 year old you can join a university but in India things are different
What do you mean? My father was an engineer and he started his Bachelor of law at age 58 in 1996 in India, after retirement. regular college, which only 10% pass out off.
Again never compare Canada with India, India is Unique and I am not putting my Motherland on Trash, You are in a way doing that, by comparing it with Canada and USA.
I'm only comparing the economy and education not the culture.
STOP religious Conversion and propoganda all over the world all the countries will live happily.

Under predictions for the following months, it is noted that the demand for numbers has not materialized because of persistent backlog. To move things forward they have moved ahead the dates for ROW and the Phillipines. They have also stated that in the future months, they may continue this to include other areas and preference categories. This sounds like good news for those who have their labor certification completed. They also add a caveat that this advancement of dates may lead to eventual sudden and significant backlog in the future when the demand for numbers does materialize (read: when the backlog is actually cleared)

My lawyer is against re-filing. She said we could do it if I wanted it, but she did not support this idea. My package was complete 100%, so I should not worry, that's what she said.

The first thing to do in call your attorney and ask him to be with you when any uscis or ice guy shows up. Right to an attorney is a basic right. Do not think that u will offend ice officer if u have u'r attorney present. Do not think that u'r charming personality will put u in the good books of ice. If I were u, I would not do anything, without consulting my attorney in such a matter.
Also, keep bank stmts and all recent paystubs handy, along with past exp. Letters and degree/certificates. Copiew of h1 + gc petition/approval would be good to have.

I am also waiting for a GC to buy a house ... can't buy on a H1 visa with a project that keeps on getting extended every 3-6 months. You need stability for at least a few years to put in a committment for a mortgage that you are going to pay for 30 years.
I also work in a IT consulting position but still decided to go ahead and buy a home in St Louis back in September 2007. My 485/EAD/AP was filed in August 2007 and EAD approved a few weeks back. However despite my current situation, I believe buying a home was a wise decision considering the kind of lifestyle and security it provides for you and your family. I know a lot of my friends who decided to take the plunge and bought houses though they were working on H1 and have their GCs pending for a few years.

It is not the same as a 3+2, which, however, there is an unpublished AAO case to support its equivalency to a Masters degree.

Why the heck is USCIS bothered about your bachelors when your Labor clearly says Masters required? I think you have a strong case since the RFE did not mention anything about your bachelors. What is your attorney saying? why didnt your ed evaluator mention anything about your bachelors? Will it help if you could evalute your qualifications from another agency, wherein they could prove that you had enough credits and class hours in your bachelors to be equal to US 4 yr courses?
I am sure there are many helpful folks on this forum who could also guide you on your case. They may have had first hand experience in such situations. Do keep us posted.

A receipt number starting with SRC usually means that the receipt was issued by the Texas Service Center. However, at this moment, the case could be pending at any other center it USCIS transferred it.
Use your receipt number to lookup the case status on the USCIS website. The status will tell you where your case is pending.
