Go to websites such as ZAZONA.com and numbersusa.com and check out their arguments that they use to oppose H1b and EB-greencards. You are saying the same thing and feeding into those arguments by using the word "Slavery".
And by the way, regarding public opinion, remember that immigration(legal or illegal) is issue number 5 or 6 after economy, healthcare, Iraq, security, deficits etc. etc.
Public opinion is not going to care about 350,000 H1bs in line for GC. But still, getting overall media attention is good for our cause and I urge you to write letters to the editors of NYT, LA times, Time mag, Newsweek. etc etc. like you suggested. But there is not POINT IN BEING RHETORICAL or SARCASTIC.

guys I am in a similar boat....unfortunately, my wife did not get matched this year because we were only trying for programs that sponsor H1....We have heard bad stories about J1.....but in that process she missed getting a residency spot this year......do you guys mind sharing which hospitals your wives are doing their residency at?.....any suggestions for us?....do they know of any open positions?

Lot of people seeking h1b with excellent qualifications and credentials could not make it this year. This may get even worse based on retrogression.
What is really happening is, most of residency application initial screening is done by residency coordinators. They don't know what is happening around. They follow protocols, say a program has 20 seats and 500 applications, they will filter based on citizen, GC and some H1b/J1 etc.... Now due to retrogression, a lot of h4 not having EAD or GC which was not case earlier as people keep getting GC or EAD and fall have more competition in the EAD/GC area, but now it is like, out if 500 applications alomst 300 would be h1b /J1 seekers and programs decide to filter a lot fo them and just interview a few. Out of few h1b/j1 seekers getting interviewed, many may have UK clinical experience (they are most preferred as they are considered a perfect fit).
On the other hand, a lot of h1b/J1 seekers have strong strong recomendations. Especially those doctors who have son's/daughters/nephew/relatives etc... all community hospitals fill up some of their h1b/J1 seats in this manner. And this is also a growing trend.
Some people join hospitals as research/observerships/externships and do their best to create an impression, and in some cases these candidates are considered for a resdency onn h1b/J1.
So, it is not a straight forward process.
You may try St Barnabas, Bronx Lebanon hospital, and other programs in Bronx, where some seats do get left out even till the end, and I have heard that if you keep persistantly approaching them and show interest they will consider if they have an option.
But overall, retrogression seems to be a main cause for flooding of H1b seekers in residency, this has made it relatively easy for GC/EAD/Citizen to get into residency programs without competition

Since the stamped visa is valid till Sep 2009, you can travel without stamping the new visa. BUT it is extremely important that you show the approved H1B notice (I-797) at the port of entry. This will make sure your I-94 will be valid till 2011. You will have issues with H1B stamping / renewal if the I-94 dates are incorrect. One of my friend went thru the same situation and he has to correct the I-94 dates by going to a local immigration office.

If you open a company on EAD, you are eligible for any positions that pay by W2 right?
If you have an EAD, you can take up any job which pays by W2... Opening a company has nothing to do with it.
If you are opening a company and you do Corp to Corp with any other vendor or Consultancy, then they will pay your corporation...and you get paid. From your side that is business income and you can deduct your expenses.

i had interview at mumbai consulate on friday morning 9.30.
EVERYONE please take time to read and reply...
the officer was very rude... i said good morning upon entering and she did not reply.... then she said she is getting strange people since morning and no one is following her instructions....
she asked me the name of company, my job title etc..i replied ...
and then she asked me for my old passport and wrote CWOP on expired visa.....
she asked my wife if she has old passport and i said no and there it started..."SHE got angry and said did i asked you? let her speak... " "women can speak for herself etc..." she did utter some few words slowly so i said "excuse me" and that's it..she told me people like me should not be in usa..etc...etc........."
here is the deal...she did not gave me any slip or anything and said we can go now.....
WHAT WILL HAPPEN?
will i get my passport with stamp? or do they send Pink/Yellow/White slip through courier?
expert any advise?
i tracked the passport on VFS site on Saturday morning and VFS says they have not received passport from the embassy. is this normal? should i wait till monday evening before jump on any conclusion?

This is my first post here but I am silent reader for past two years. I got my GC approved couple of weeks ago. A week before that, I applied for EAD and AP renewal. Is there any way to ask USCIS to refund the money back since they have debited the money from my account and also received the receipt notice for me and my wife as well? I need your valuable suggestion here,

I understand if G-28 forms are not sent, then all correspondence will sent to me which is good. But my concern is what if my lawyer signs the forms as a representative and not sending G-28 forms to represent the case.
This is the process which i have gone through:
1. My lawyer sent the questionnaire forms for 485/131/765. I filled the forms with my personal information and sent them to him online.
2. He made the necessary corrections and filled some gaps and sent them back to me for my signature. At the end of each form his name and address is printed as a representative of my case. He asked me to send all the forms signed along with reqd. documents.
when his name and adddress is printed and he signs the forms, then it shows he is representing the case. Then he has to send G-28 forms for each form I guess. If he didn't signed the forms as a representative then I guess all correspondence comes to me but my concern if he signs the forms but not sending G-28 for each form, then I guess I am in trouble for not sending G-28 forms...am I thinking correctly...suggestions plz...
My lawyer is not that responsive. He always says(pretends) that he is busy(not sure though)..I send an email but no response yet. If really G-28 forms required and if he sends the packet without them, then as per USCIS my application will be rejected right away. No time to reapply also.

You don't need a visa to transit in Frankfurt - meaning if you are catching another flight to a non-Schengen state (like India). Else, all "interview", visa stamping (even for other Schengen states), etc. happens in Frankfurt.

I filed my I485 mid 2003. I missed the boat end of 2004, some where in 2005 and then in 2007 when my dates were current. My pd is in 2002. People who filed with me have been approved and they are ready for citizenship next year :mad:, while I got my 6th EAD approved
