I know we had lot of discussions about Notice date and reciept date.I was planning to invoking AC-21 after 180 days.My application reached USCIS on Jul 18th.I assume this is when the 180 days count down starts.My notice date is Sept 18th.(Checks cashed).My online status for my 485 is as follows
"On September 18, 2007, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case.Blah blah"
When they recieved, do they mean it is the reciept date.My 180 days ends on Jan 18th 2008.

Voting multiple times is not allowed, so this is going to be hard to track.
eg. If I vote right now that i have contacted congressman, I won't be able to come back and change my vote when the congressman sends the letter out.

hi. sorry to hear that you are going through this harrassment.
i would recommend the following strategy:
1. file a case of harrassment with the state DOL / agency.
2. contact an immig attorney and have them 'on your side'
3. contact the IRS via registered mail and document your case, with FACTS, not OPINIONS or EMOTIONS. send a copy of the IRS letter to the State DOL.
4. further, file a complaint with the DOJ (if applicable). check out their Website.
5. finally, send a 30 day demand note (if applicable in your state) stating YOUR demands against the former employer, asking for immediate cessation of all activities which can be considered as coercive, amounting to emotional stress and harrassment. if possible, get a Doctor's medical advice and keep that on record.
6. eventually, think about getting a lawyer to do this case 'pro bono' . some might do if you can get good local press about thsi case and effectively 'market the lawyers costlessly'. of course, all privacy goes out of the window.

You say all these because you understand. Most of these police officers out there (and even Immigration Enforcement officers) dont understand the laws they are enforcing. I once asked an american embassy consular officer during an H1B renewal interview how long I had to stay in the US if I get laid off from my job. She smiled and said she doesnt know. Ironic right? That is US Immigration laws for you. So complex yet so unreasonable.

.. and how exactly do you know that I didn't participate? did you just look in to your crystal ball and it magically gave you a list of people who didn't call their lawmaker? I may not have posted any update in that thread but I did call my 2 senators.
If you think that I have to give you a daily update in writing on what I am doing everyday to support IV, you are up for a surprise because that isn't happening. Before you criticize others, at least think.
By the way, you don't own IV or this forum so please don't act like everyone needs your permission before posting anything on this forum.
All I am saying is that if there is a good reason to close a thread, just say so. Just give a one liner explanation and everyone is happy but I am not sure if that's too difficult for you understand.

I applied on May18 for I-140 and will be applying to I485 soon.. and would get EAD...so what happens to EAD and AP...I cant beleive they are
waste..Probabaly people with pending I-140 will be subject to the new systems..??..what do you guys think??..Its not pratical to drive people down the Queue again..
Nothing will go th waste until this bill becomes the law. After that, you still have another year or more before the points system kicks in. It is when they start the points system (oct 2008) when they will look into this dreaded date of May 15 2007 and decide on people's fate. Until then, keep doing what you are doing.

I gets very severe migraine attack almost everyday thinking about the GC !! I took so many pain killers(acetameno) almost everyday ..now they also stopped working on me...and due to these apin killers ..I became acidic ..acidity everyday..even without eating spicy things...my wife says, probably my lever damaged ..don't like to visit doctors ...will it get worse ? I can't escape visiting IV everyday !! Any remedy for me will be highly appreciated....
While a pray for your "lever"....i will suggest u see a doctor asap!!!
And I will also prescribe you channel all the pain into some positive energy by helping IV via contributions, volunteer work...and participatingin action items...all that is very rewarding!!! and will help you from going nuts, bananas and what have you!!

I am trying to port EB3 to EB2 but can not find an employer who will file labur for EB2. Can some one send good Desi Employers by Private email.
Also I talked to one employer and he said that I have to bring experience certificate from current employer to show my experience for EB2. The current employer says he will give the experience certificate but write only one line. ..... Any tips here.
By the way kumars story is very interesting. Here some companies thinks following thats many who working Fortune 500 companies are in EB3 or nowhere.

If 485 application is pending for longer time, say more than 2 years, I have seen that USCIS wants a reconfirmation from the employer that they continue to support the green card application for the position for which the application was originally applied. This is not just applicable to consulting companies alone. Any types of companies and applicants in any categories (Eb-1,2&3) could get RFE at the last stage of the process. So to have your application processed without a shred of a doubt, it is best to be in a position to reply that RFE anytime during the process.

I dont believe Indian govt can help in this...Lets first gather people and we will let you know the next course of action. There are bunch of people in Face book who got struck up in visa delays. I am trying to reach out to them. Its big group...try to get them here. Please contact those people...
